“Just thinking” about an article in the Lodi News-Sentinel on Oct. 28 ... United Congregational Christian Church will allow gay and lesbian marriages, welcome all kinds of families ... This comes through the United Congregational Christian Church, “love makes a family” ...

Religion letter: Merry Christmas to believers and unbelievers

Merry Christmas to all of us ... a most blessed Christmas to us all. Yes, believer and unbeliever alike are witness to the divine love of God, a love greater than tongue can tell, a love that defines us and our world, a love we believe or not.

Letter: Bethlehem is the lesson of grace

The Word was made flesh! He became truly man; man all over in body, soul, and spirit; in everything but sin.

Letter: Different ways of showing gratitude and kindness

Neighbors have helped me so much: Rev. Richard Francis and Wylie, especially with electrical problems. Shelly’s husband is so considerate in idling his truck quietly through the neighborhood. Also: Mr. Petersen and dogs, Bill, Elfie, Donna, Karen and Philip, to give me rides. And Garth, John Spagnola, Frank, Randy, the computer-research people at the front desk of the library have saved me tremendous time.

Letter: Legalism in religion is destructive

The Pharisees and Sadducees were noted for — and taken to task for — their legalism by Christ Jesus Himself. He called them white-washed sepulchres, graves, clean on the outside, rotten inside. He also chastised them for imposing heavy burdens on others that they couldn’t and wouldn’t bear themselves, practicing the greatest lawlessness there is ... legalistic religionism.

Letter: Unity comes only from Jesus Christ in Holy Communion

Final Battle? Unity (Communion of men-Communism-New World Order) versus (Communion with Most Holy Triune God — Catholic Eucharist). Cut like a sword, the two opposites can clearly be seen in two opposing halves. But wait! Since Vatican II, Salt has taken on another ingredient which corrupts, blurs distinctions: ecumenism (false, man-made attempt at unity).

Letter: Jesus’ perceived silence does not mean he condones homosexuality

It’s often said that since Jesus didn’t say anything about homosexuality, Christians shouldn’t be against it (or gay marriage). However, there are some serious flaws with this logic.

Letter: God says not to fear our enemies

America has had 13 years since Sept. 11, 2001, to reflect on the nature of our foreign enemies. Is it fair to say, that for the first time in our history, we are being attacked by a violent, oppressive religious group, based in the Middle East?

Letter: Remembering German preacher Martin Luther

For having been named one of the top three most influential people of the last 1,000 years, Martin Luther is still relatively unknown to most Americans (who often confuse him with Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.).

Letter: Written testimony from a dying woman

Several years ago, I went on four short-term mission trips to Europe and South America, we handed out gospel tracts on the street or at metro stations. Also, we went to the prisons in those countries, prisoners got a Bible and a message from the Word. On these trips, I met Wilma Warta. Her life was a living testimony of her love for her Savior. Wilma went to be with her Lord in 2013, and this is her written testimony she left for us:

Letter: Everyone is invited to RSVP with the Lord

Eternity awaits us all, in one way or another, and so does the invitation to spend it with our Creator. The gospel of Christ Jesus is that formal invitation, and it has an RSVP. Everyone is invited, and everyone must RSVP ... no reply is a reply.

Letter: Catholics should hold onto original traditions

There is a Protestant on television who attacks the present Pope as favoring Muslims; he separated him from the two previous popes which he likes. First and foremost, history doesn’t operate in a vacuum. Apostasy exists because of many compromises following Vatican II (many antichrists — 1 John 2:18).

Letter: Evil is a part of the divine plan, and so is free will

Evil is an interesting subject. It is written that God forms the light and creates darkness. He makes peace, and creates evil. He does all these things (Isaiah 45:7) ... the questions arises, what exactly is evil? Immorality, misfortune, sin, Lucifer, death? We understand evil as many things, but essentially they’re all more a result or repercussion of evil than the actual evil itself. So, what is the essence of evil itself?

Letter: What might Jesus say about the church in America today?

I am currently preaching verse-by-verse through the book of Revelation, and for the last few weeks we have been studying Jesus’ letters to the seven churches in chapters two and three. I wonder, what would Jesus write to the church in America today? Could it be something like this:

Letter: The city of Jerusalem belongs to Israel

Editor: Scripture accounts that sovereign God lends no weight or preference to monarchs, politicians or media; and no religion’s doctrines nor the writings in the Quran and Hadiths or the Upanishads sway Him one iota. Covenants, promises of God to Abraham, Isaac, Jacob and David, are His benchmark and measuring tape for the protection of legal metes and bounds and sights of three who believe Him.

Letter: New York City is behind modern history’s evils

Just as history is falsely treated as isolated events, so is evil. If you look deeply enough, you will find a trail. Many think that the Middle East crisis can be reduced to Muslims versus Israel. But who is behind the scenes festering the situation? Iran has sophisticated nuclear technology. But who is behind it? Communist Russia and China.
