Congress should be using trial time to uncover the tragedy of Benghazi

You just gotta love and appreciate our elected leaders for some great TV. Every day they come up with yet another "you can't make up this kinda stuff." We learned that shortly after the Benghazi massacre, the president was on his way to a fundraiser in Vegas. Good to know what he thinks is important. Don't blame him. Best to get as far away as you can when the alleged lies and cover-ups start.

Can't hardly wait for the next viewing. Fox on one TV and CNN on the other. It will be riveting to watch how high the deceit goes, and how impregnable is the "fire wall!" Some Congressmen seem to use their camera time, not delving into seriousness of the tragedy, but by bloviating for their own reelection. Not a good way to face up to an obvious terrorist attack.

We must never forget that four fine brave young Americans were slain, and an investigation has been called to get the answers to three important questions: Was the security adequate? Why was aid not forthcoming? Was there a cover-up?

Let us pray we get it right!

Mr. Steinberg: I wasn't quite sure to make of your post initially. I thought, "Oh no. Another wacky conspiracy theorist" After reading the second one, I was greatly relieved. We have one constant wacko who thinks everything can be explained with a youtube video or links to infowars or the occasionally nutjob who gets an op-ed piece in a national source.

Along with the republicans who can't stand the President because he's a democrat and more so because he's _ _ _ _ _, and who get their information from Fox and Rush and Hannity and Coulter and all the other strung out co-dependent drug addicts, it gets like a zoo around here.

I can only hope (and I fully support this next notion) there is a Tea Party resurgence as a result of the goofy actions from life time employees. Because that will split the already dwindling right wing vote, insuring a Hillary win in 2016 and a re-election in 2020. How knows, maybe no republican (or conservative) will get elected again. Lord knows, they already get almost zero support from any voters that aren't white and lower class. Go Tea Party!!!

The giveaway in the Hillary "admits" video is her use of "Soviets" and "Mujahideen."

Since the Soviet Union crumbled during the Reagan administration and the opposition to the Soviets in Afghanistan was the Mujahideen, it was obvious that she could not have been talking about current events.

Ms. Bobin; yes is the answer to the question in the 2nd statement in your 4:32am post. Washington post story dated 7-19-92.(Reagan administration) CIA funnelled 2 billion dollars to Bin Laden to aid in ousting Soviet Union from Afghanistan For more info, keywords;Osama Bin Laden created by the US-various articles.[smile]

So a five second sound bite that is highly edited proves that the US created al-Qaeda?

And obviously, Hillary was speaking of the REAGAN Administration accomplishing the formation of al-Qaeda if we are to believe the inference, right?

Or did you think that she was speaking of the present or even the past decade?

    Oblivious!

I saw an interesting poll recently that showed that 37% of the people who think this is some sort of latter day Watergate don't even know what country Benghazi is in. Apparently, a fair number of these zombies believe it is in Cuba.

Do the wingnuts really think anyone outside of their asylum actually cares about this stuff? Its a War folks, people die. How many consular employees were killed under W without even a moments notice from the far right?

The only news story here is the far rights pathetic seizure and the embarrassing evidence of exactly how far these people will go to attack this President.

Joanne: That's not hysteria, that's how the conservatives think. They don't let truth get in the way. The way they measure the effectiveness of a message is by the number of cliche and sound bites gleaned from rush they include.

Since they never bother to find out if any of it's true, they can post with complete confidence that they include not a single fact..

This being the case, they think that callilng us "stupid" or saying we are "oblivious" or by saying "mad-cow" instead of "Maddow" insults us. It's real effect ils just giving us further proof that they lact the intelligence to debate on a more intellectual level than they are used to.

Critisism from a conspiracy theorist and outed serial plagiarist.

    1. "This from a conspiracy theorist.

Do you realize how ridiculous you sound?"

    2. “Rep. Elijah Cummings (D-MD), ranking Democrat on the House
Oversight and Government Reform Committee, acknowledged that
further investigation was warranted on Benghazi.”
    and you responded by saying,

"So? I have no idea who this person might be” "

I put it out to an affiliated study group and they were 100% that my statements were true, while yours lacked any truth at all. They also pointed out that you plagiarized my earlier post without adequate attribution. Once I told them your name, they all laughed and said that explained it.

Whether you think you "caught me" or not makes no difference as I don't care either. Like anyone else, I could have easily looked up the names of those killed because the Internet is like having a complete set of encyclopedias updated on a moment-by-moment basis. Whether it was four, four thousand or four million, what is becoming important is that the ball was dropped by someone in the Obama administration - and that DOES matter.

As far as "ex-SEALs" vs. "SEALs" is concerned, from what I've heard throughout the years, much as it is "once a Marine, always a Marine," the Navy SEALs feel the same way about the uniqueness of who and what they are. Regardless, as a "former" member of the Air Force, I have the utmost respect for those who have earned the position of SEAL and Marine.

What you appear to be doing, Mr. Adams is deflect attention away from what IS important: the administration’s culpability regarding those four deaths.

I'm sure this must be one of Alinsky's "Rules for Radicals" and I'll bet Kim could cite which number it is.

"Always know what the useful idiots are saying, it comes in handy when you want to prove something to those who only believe what the useful idiots are saying."

You do realize that John Wilkes Booth died on April 26, 1865, 148 years ago, but it doesn't negate the fact that he assassinated Abraham Lincoln.

And guess what? The US Constitution was ratified in 1789, 223 years ago, but that doesn't mean it is no longer the law of the land.

Hmmmm..... how far back should we go to make sure that Joe Baxxxter realizes that HISTORY IS HISTORY. It's not erased by death or time.

What about Christoper Columbus....OK, some people say he DIDN'T discover America, but he still landed close by.....

I guess in Mr. Baxxxter's mind, dead, out of office, out of sight-out of mind or whatever must mean it never happened.

Always love this reasoning - it's what all right wingers use to pretend that facts aren't facts. Until, of course, they want to bring up Bill Clinton - then it's totally relevant!!!

Sorry to disappoint you Mike. A very nice lady shows up on a weekly basis in a van from the laundry. Takes all of my washing and cleaning and brings me cleaned and ironed stuff on a weekly basis. Don't do alcohol either. Well, maybe the occasional shot of NyQuil if I have a very bad cold. But your description of someone wearing clothes for a week with food stains and drinking daily sure brings to mind the ones who voted for Obama. Most likely got the beer by selling food stamps for .50 cents on the dollar.

Mr. Kinderman: Being aware of basic factual information of an issue ferrets out those who are sincerely discussing it versus those who are just using it as a club.
You'll probably disagree as I've caught you the same way. I don't care. Every one of these posters who believe that President Obama and Sec. State Clinton did something wrong that caused the deaths of these Americans, every one of them knew not a single name. After some time, some could name the State Dept' official.
I can see 9/11, over 3000 killed not knowing the name of someone, for scale alone, but these individuals can't name more than one. And most still refer to the ex-SEALs as SEALs.

If Joe would get a clue and quit demonstrating again and again his attacks on individuals who don't agree with him things could be different. But he chose this path, not us. What makes it all the more sad, he thinks he's funny and when he implies that a poster is a homosexual because he disagrees with him, that shows are very real lack of social awareness besides being entirely inappropriate, and should be grounds for banishment right there.

Unlike BHO, Bush didn't need to make photo op appearances at Dover or Andrews. Of course, the liberal media is worshipful of Obama for this stunt, while George Bush would have been excoriated for exploiting troops’ deaths.

I actually enjoy Rush's show I love it when his fans call in and whine about Obama destroying this country the only show that has a more pathetic fan base is hannity " we love you shawn you're a great American" cue the vomit. I often agree with Rush’s opinion on what’s going on I just disagree with why. Where Rush may say the liberals are allowing immigration to help them win elections I would say that liberals are helping immigrants and that is why they get their vote. Rush has the mark of an accomplished liar he veers just far enough from the truth to accomplish his goals but then I’m not telling you anything am I?

You have to understand something Joe. We have to remember why it is so important never to elect another Republican if we can at all help it. We look at the Bushes and Reagan to remember what real corruption and incompetence looks like. I know we really should not have to. We really only have to look at what they are doing now but it helps to remember what these guys would be like if they ever have the White house again. That is something no rational person wants.

He "fired" IRS chief Steve Miller as a phony show of his outrage. Steve Miller was no where around when the IRS scandal started and he was already leaving that agency in June anyway. Now he has another government job, most likely with a pay raise. I can hear it now, Obama whispers, "Psst, Steve, let me fire you over this "scandal" and I will make it worth your while".

Joe - I guess that that is kind of like George Walker Bush NEVER EVER going to Dover AFB or Andrews AFB to meet the arriving coffins of the men who he sent to their deaths in Iraq and Afghanistan. Nor did he EVER attend a single funeral.

GWB on this issue: "Because which funeral do you go to? In my judgment, I think if I go to one I should go to all. How do you honor one person but not another?”

He claimed he supposedly met with EACH FAMILY privately. Did he really have that kind of time? More like he sent a letter signed with the Auto Pen.

Both Obama and Clinton were at Andrews with the Benghazi victims' families for the transfer of their remains. AND Obama has gone several times to Dover AFB to meet the arriving coffins of military casualties.

Poor Bush could never get his butt out of bed to perform this simple act of respect for the men he helped kill.

Yeah, I guess you are right, Mr. Baxxter.

After all, who knew that our "most trusted" president would embark on an enterprise to violate US law when he authorized Ollie North to sell weapons to Iran and then funnel the proceeds to Nicaragua to fund the Contras and to work a few drug deals to boot!

Not only did Reagan violate one law, he violated TWO laws. But not to worry, if your conspiracy theory is found to be true, maybe Hillary will get a reality show and become a paid commentator for FOX News, just like Ollie.

Benghazi, Fast & Furious, AP phone records, IRS violations. What's next? Even the Obama idolizing press is rethinking their blind allegiance. Fascinating to see how many Democrats seem to be distancing themselves from Obama in light of the current scandals. How much more are we going to let him get away with before he is held accountable? One thing Obama didn't count on with the IRS scandal, the Tea Party patriots are once again rising as a force to be reckoned with.

One answer - because the State Department/SAM conspiracy has just fallen out of the "theconservativetreehouse" website, just like all the other NUTS they've got stored there.

Even Andrew Liebich has jumped off the sinking" CIA outpost" conspiracy and jumped on the Stinger missile Titanic.

Where is your PROOF, since you are so convinced that these so-called whistleblowers will blow the lid off the whole "scandal?"

The only thing YOU know, Mr. Baxxter, is that you read it on the Internet. And we all know that if it's on the Internet it must be true.

You mean like the time your hero George Bush joked at the correspondents dinner about not finding WMD's in Iraq? How many lives and how much treasure was he joking about? This President actually cares about people which is more than I can say about his predecessor. You may not like his policies but your attack is groundless and speaks to your grasping of straws in your personal dislike of the President.

Exactly who was stating that we should not know their names, Mr. Kinderman?

Perhaps Mr. Kinderman should review the events as they unfolded in order to get the answers to his questions. You might find that your accusations are unwarranted, but all you care about are your anti-contraception and anti-abortion stances. To compare the president's reaction to these is ridiculous.

Eric: This is the way ignorant buffoons imply you're a homosexual. In their low-brow world, they think this is an insult. To the educated, it just firms up the belief that the author wears the same shirt all week with food stains from breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Every night, they drink another 10 cans of beer and all is well in their world.

So not knowing the names of the four people murdered at Benghazi would make their deaths less tragic?

How about this one: how long after their deaths did the President of the United States contact their families compared to the time it took to contact a thirty-plus-year-old graduate student regarding the tragedy surrounding her birth control challenges? Or at what point did President Obama pronounce the Benghazi victims to be equally heroic as some basketball player's announcement that he was homosexual?

I suppose it's all about what we believe to be important vs. ridiculous.

    Thanks for the hypocracy
You failed to list the 13 patriotic Anericans who died during the Bush administration in over 50 attacks on American embasies that garnered no more than 3 days of hearings for the total lot of attacks. Now you could go on to attacks under Reagan and Clinton but why strain your Google finger.

You only confirm that this is not about the attacks but politics as usual.

The Bengazi hearings have exhausted their usfulness and continue only because Fox and Rush (and Info wars) have found gold in keeping the conspiracy angles bubbleing.

"Here are the names of the Americans killed in Libya. The ones that Mike Adams says we shouldn't be "making a big deal about". Pathetic."

What is really pathetic, Joe, is that it took you over 24 hours to find out the names of the 4 americans you and your fellow growlilng heads are so outraged about. I:m pathetic. Kim is speachless (and apparently still ignorant as to the identities of the four). For all of your anger, you lack even the most basic knowledge of the issue. This is why what happened there doesn't mean anything, except that 4 Americans (2 of them hired security, not current SEALs, and you don't even know that fact) had the misfortune to be murdered while a Democrat was President. AND THAT IS ALL YOU CARE ABOUT.

Fortunately, most Americans are wise enough to blow you and your kind off as just reactionist jealots. The kinds of people who feign outrage of an incident but can't recite even the most basic facts about it.

Now I suggest you go back on to your conservative and conspiracy theory web sites for more mistruths you can throw out to demonstrate your ignorance. If for some reason, you don't think this applies to you, just ask yourself this question: Why would the American intelligence community tell YOU what the function of that night's meeting was? Wouldn't it be far more productive for them just tell people who have some input and influence about the true mission and not waste their time on people who refuse to find out even the most basic information, in fact, who reject the basic facts?

I think you need to re-calibrate abilities and position in this whole matter.
Start with examining why you don't know the facts of this "secret" mission or have waited several months to find this information.

Yes, we even set aside a block of time-6 weeks- for "indoctrination" or what you call "radical liberal garbage" so when they hear uneducatated people like yourself spouting both outdated cliches (those are sayings, statements, actions that once meant something but now only reveal a lack of sophistication) and current sound bites (without any such knowledge of what they mean..soon to be cliches themselves) they can show empathy (feeling sorry and showing compassion for those in a situation they did not cause) for those afflicted.

Look, we all know what you're like: You hate America. You hate anyone who doesn't share the same viral hatred for anyone who isn't like you. You hate teachers. You hate all government workers for that matter because they have it better off then you have. You live to condemn everything and everyone who doesn't think the same perverted twisted thoughts that you have.

Unfortunately there is nothing that can be done for you. No magic pill. No book to read (or have read to you). You're doomed to reliving this moment over and over for the rest of your life.

FYI - the two FORMER Navy SEALS were private security contracted by the State Department. That fact, of course, does not detract from their previous service in the Navy.

This new story about Stinger missiles (SAM's) is so far just being carried on conspiracy theory websites.

Let's see who is willing to hold their breath until the so-called "whistleblowers" testify about Stevens's "real" mission in Benghazi.

Where did the State Department get these surface-to-air missiles? Oh, don't tell me, Hillary keeps them in her garage in Chappaqua.

    Ambassador Chris Stevens
    Diplomat Sean Smith
    Navy SEAL Tyrone Woods
    NavySEAL Glen Doherty
These are patriotic Americans murdered by al-Qaeda, after the State Department furnished them with Stinger missiles, something the CIA refused to do. Hillary, Obama and the rest of the culpable administration are feverishly trying to hide the truth. Where are the 30 or survivors and why can't they talk? Americans are entitled to the TRUTH.

  • Joanne Bobin posted at 8:43 am on Wed, May 22, 2013.

And we know this to be true because the State Department has a whole stockpile of weapons and materiel at their disposal.

And they have the authority of the president to distribute these surface-to-air missiles to whomever they see fit? And they had no way of knowing that the recipients of these weapons were actually a faction of al-Qaeda and not generic Libyan rebels.

Cannot wait to see the "whistleblowers" behind this farce testify before Congress. And if that actually happens, I'd like to see their bank statements to see how much they received for this c ock and bull story.

Stevens’ mission in Benghazi was to buy back Stinger missiles from al-Qaeda groups issued to them by the State Department, not by the CIA to be used to overthrow Gaddafi. This left Stevens in the position of having to clean up the scandalous enterprise when it became clear that the “insurgents” actually were al-Qaeda, the same group that attacked the consulate and ended up killing Stevens.

Both Parties are trying to sweep the bigger story under the rug.

According to Democrats, Congressional hearings on Benghazi are nothing but a partisan witch hunt.

According to Republicans, the Obama administration committed treason in it’s handling of Benghazi … and then tried to cover it up.

Both parties are avoiding the bigger picture … The fact that Democrats and Republicans alike have been using Benghazi as the center of U.S. efforts to arm the Al Qaeda-affiliated Syrian rebels.

As to President Obama flying to Las Vegas, I don't know if that's true or not. Whether he was flying to Las Vegas or not wouldl not have altered the outcome anyway. W was always flying to Crawford TX to cut down brush and other associated chores at his spacious ranch. He took more vacation time than any president before and since.

If it wasn't for the fact that President Obama is a democrat, we would be hearing nothing about this. The right doesn't want answers, they just want to drag the names of the three Americans whose names they don't know through the muck and mire that is one of their few remaining cards they have yet to play.
