Surprise! The new issue of Newsweek is out with the cover story by Niall Ferguson, "Hit the Road Barack — Obama's Gotta Go."

"Why does Paul Ryan scare the president so much? Because Obama has broken his promises, and it's clear that the GOP ticket's path to prosperity is our only hope."

"Romney's bet is that the American people are ready for Paul Ryan and an adult conversation," Star Parker.

Earlier this year, Douglas Elmendorf, director of the non-partisan Congressional Budget Office, sent a report on the nation's budget to Ryan saying, "The explosive path of the federal debt that the CBO projects under what many observers would view as current policies underscores the need for policy changes to put the nation on a sustainable course. The aging of the population and rising costs for health care will push spending for Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, and other federal health programs considerably higher as a percentage of GDP. Without major increases in revenues and/or substantial cuts in spending, the resulting budget deficits will increase federal debt to insupportable levels."

Where is the Barack Obama, as a senator in March 2006, who said, "The fact that we are here today to debate raising America's debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. government cannot pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our government's reckless fiscal policies. Increasing America's debt weakens us domestically and internationally. Leadership means that 'the buck stops here.' Instead, Washington is shifting the burden of bad choices today onto the backs of our children and grandchildren. America has a debt problem and a failure of leadership. Americans deserve better."

Where is your leadership, Mr. President? No budget for over three years and trillion-dollar deficits every year. Quit your gutter campaign! Have an adult conversation on the issues.

"There are two ways to conquer and enslave a nation. One is by the sword. The other is by debt," John Adams, 1826.
