I was saddened to find out that Lodi Unified School District chose to hold the high school graduations in Stockton.

One of the best things about graduating from Lodi High School was taking part in the time-honored ceremony at the Grape Bowl. I was a flower girl for two years, first as a sophomore because my sister was graduating, and again as a junior, which was when all girls could participate. It was well-organized by our physical education instructor Ann Ganzer Braden.

The experience was amazing, not only for the flower girls and graduates, but the audience as well. After the flower girls filed in, the graduates entered the stadium — what an awesome sight! All the while, music flowed from the band, which was seated in front of the Lodi High backdrop. Ah, what wonderful memories!

I cannot imagine the justification for dropping this longtime tradition. Can anyone tell me why Lodi broke from tradition and moved the graduations to Stockton?

I don't know what the parking was like at the Grape bowl, but the parking situation in Stockton was horrendous. Took me 10 minutes to drive there and 25 to get through the intersection to turn into the college. THEN had to drive by empty lot after empty lot to park quite a bit further away. Not a problem for me, but my elderly parents had to stop a few times just to make the walk from the car to the ceremony.

And this was with leaving to get there with the Seniors.

Then inside the seating was good, but the attendees were VERY inconsiderate. They kept standing right in front of us on the walk way, blocking the view of everyone behind them. In spite of security telling the same people, repeatedly, to sit down, they kept coming back to block others view. The lady sitting behind my elderly dad let her son KICK him in the back several times (found out after we left).

I really hope the Grape Bowl was better than all this.
