Once again, Prom Dress donations by many individuals made the third annual Operation Fairy Tale, held at Liberty Ranch High School, a dream come true for girls needing a free dress.

Volunteers from Sac State Greek Sororities, seamstresses from Galt's L'Chayim to Life, Liberty Ranch Fashion Club helpers, school staff and parent volunteers helped make the event a success. Special thanks to Ed and Deanna Sanders and Danielle Sanders for their ongoing support in keeping the Prom Closet a yearly event.

Another shout-out goes to those providing raffle prizes, including Galt's L'Chayim to Life for a Glamour Gift Basket and beautiful shoulder-wrap; Robin Novo for an Avon gift basket; and Sac State Greek Sororities for assorted jewelry, hair tools and beauty products. Secondhand Rose in Lodi was gracious to be a drop-off spot for donated dresses, shoes and accessories.

Additional thanks to Michelle Atencion, Giuliana Emperador and Shanee Best for their assistance in making the day very special. Prom dresses, dress shoes and accessories will be continually collected for next year's event.

So, now there is a "double standard", one for public figures and one for the average citizen? More liberal hogwash.

Should graduations return to the Grape Bowl?

Lodi Unified leaders are moving Lodi and Tokay high school graduations from the Grape Bowl to the Spanos Center at UOP in Stockton. They cite limited seating, costs and unpredictable weather at the Grape Bowl. But others say graduations at the Grape Bowl are an important Lodi tradition, and one reason many supported renovating the stadium. What do you think?
