I am a Vietnam veteran. I read Steve Hansen's column, and to say the least, it was not Steve's usual fare.

Over the past 40-plus years, I've heard many personal accounts of the war, and told some of my own experiences to others. Steve's story was powerful, and reminded me that I will never be able to completely shed the demons that continue to haunt me.

I have but one request from Steve, and it is this: If you haven't already done so, examine the reason that you've been unable to return to that building in Coulterville, and if you're able and willing, tell me - tell all of us - what the reason is that you've not been able to go back. If I'm correct, I believe your answer will provide understanding, direction and hope for all of us.
