I graduated from Galt High School in 1985 and I am proud of the great education I received during my time there. I believe that my years at Galt High School provided me with the strong foundation I needed to succeed in my future endeavors. When the time came around, my gratitude for my education led me to enroll my children in our local high schools as well so they could have access to the same quality education I did.

As much as I appreciate the education available to my children, it saddens me to see that students are attending classes in the exact same facilities that I utilized during my tenure at Galt High 31 years ago. Our local classrooms are in serious need of essential repairs and modernizations in order to fully meet our students’ academic needs. Measures E & K will provide the dedicated source of local funding necessary to make basic upgrades at our high schools. Our schools require repairs to leaky roofs and faulty sewer systems and classroom improvement for career technical education. I am confident that the oversight committee appointed to oversee specific usage of the bond funds, will do an excellent job of keeping the allocation of monies on track.

We owe it to our students to ensure access to safe and modern learning environments in order to prepare them for successful futures. My children have graduated and moved on but I do believe in the youth and teachers of our community. Administrations may come and go, that is a given, but that is no reason to oppose a bond measure that will allow our children and grandchildren to benefit from updated facilities.

Please make the right choice for our children’s futures and join me in voting Yes on E & K on Nov. 8.
