Far too often our news headlines tragedy and destruction. However, once in a while something comes along worthy of mentioning — the artistry and passion by which students excel. Last Wednesday evening, Oct. 30, was one of those events.

I witnessed some amazing skits as part of Alfred Hitchcock’s “Spooky & Supernatural Tales” (for the young, old and everyone in between). As a fan of Alfred Hitchcock’s stories, I was eagerly awaiting to see this group’s rendition of five plays, “Life or Breath,” “Triumph of Death,” “Miss Emmeline Takes Off,” “Jimmy Takes Vanishing Lessons” and “The Reunion After 300 Years.” Well, the students of Galt and Liberty Ranch high schools’ Infinite Theater group were spectacular and far exceeded my expectations. Not only were the actors and actresses talented, they showed awesome facial expressions, expressed outrageously funny personalities and exhibited some great humor.

I must admit, the 91 observers (we were told during the closing minutes this was the largest crowd they’ve had since “Stage Door”) were well entertained, even though we were broken up into five separate groups, which in itself was a unique and crafty concept. Very well done! (I won’t expand upon that, you must come see for yourself to get its full effect.) All the students did an awesome job — roles, special effects, technical and overall production.

Of special recognition, I’d like to mention these individuals: Our group’s guide, senior Wyatt Martin, portraying 1 of 5 Alfred Hitchcocks, was hilarious — not only with his demeanor, but his humor and jokes were perfectly timed. Our group of 18 were rolling with laughter between skits. Also, in my opinion, recognition goes to Josh Collier (senior, LRHS) as Martin Wallace (“Life or Breath”), Anna Delgado (sophomore, GHS) as Amelia (“The Triumph of Death”), Beverly Harris (senior, GHS) as Miss Emmeline (“Miss Emmeline Takes Off”), Guadalupe “Lupe” Lopez (senior, GHS) as the ghost (“Jimmy Takes Vanishing Lessons”), and McKenzie Gumm (junior, LRHS) as Rose (“The Reunion After 300 Years”).

There are two more performances: Nov. 1 and 2.
