"It's Up to the Voters Now" (Wall Street Journal, June 29). If Americans want to repeal Obamacare, their only recourse is to demand it at the ballot box in November. The Supreme Court decision reminded Americans that they cannot count on others to protect their liberty.
Americans had jolly well better be learning what is in the 12,000 pages of new rules in the Federal Register. Remember Nancy Pelosi: "We have to pass the bill to find out what's in it." (All members of Congress who voted for a bill of over 2,000 pages without reading it should be voted out of office, including Jerry McNerney.)
"ObamaCare forms over 150 new boards with power over the health markets, in particular an unaccountable bureaucracy run by 15 solons who will eventually decide on the treatments that patients are allowed to receive."
Obama continues to claim that no one will lose his current health insurance. Yet many businesses will drop employee coverage when they find a penalty is cheaper. Seventy-four percent of small businesses say Obamacare will make job creation even more difficult because they can't afford to hire more employees with the uncertainty of what it will cost them.
Democrats cut half a trillion dollars out of Medicare to fund a massive new entitlement program that directly compromises patients' access to health care — no more Medicare Advantage plans that are popular with seniors.
How can health care costs not go through the roof when you add 30 million more to Medicaid, force insurance companies to cover virtually everything, including Viagra and contraceptives? How will our current number of doctors treat this increase in patients without compromising care? Why should anyone want to be a doctor? An estimated 40 percent of doctors will consider retiring.
Democrats denied that this tax (Supreme Court) ever was or would be a tax. "Had they called it a tax in 2009-10, the bill would never have passed."
Upon signing the Constitution Ben Franklin said they had created "a republic, sir — if you can keep it." Can we? Or will we become a European-like socialist state?
