Got mud? There was plenty of it at the first-ever Faith Community Church Mud Run on Saturday, Aug. 24.

You started out crossing the beautiful Mokelumne River and enjoying a path along the river until you came to a series of tires to cross to get back to the other side. With a variety of obstacles along the way — tire flipping, army crawling, wall climbing, pulling yourself out of a ditch, balance beaming, climbing hay bales and back around again for the 5K race — it was a great family adventure that everyone enjoyed, even a 12- and 14-year-old.

Faith Community Church deserves a huge round of applause for putting on a great community event. Not only was there an affordable race, but craft and food booths along with a field of jumpy houses and water slides. Thanks for a great day. I hope that you continue to carry on this event. Not only was it challenging, but fun for all! Well done!

Should graduations return to the Grape Bowl?

Lodi Unified leaders are moving Lodi and Tokay high school graduations from the Grape Bowl to the Spanos Center at UOP in Stockton. They cite limited seating, costs and unpredictable weather at the Grape Bowl. But others say graduations at the Grape Bowl are an important Lodi tradition, and one reason many supported renovating the stadium. What do you think?
