We’ve lived in Morada for 40 years and Steve Moore has been Sheriff for San Joaquin County for eight of them, and an excellent one at that. It would be hard to find someone in Morada who would negatively critique him — Steve Moore is highly thought of.

Besides being a good public servant, Steve Moore is an honest man of character and integrity, a hard-working family man who is worthy of the public trust. He certainly has mine, and my vote, too.

Thank you to Steve Moore for his service.

Morada is a community at great risk. 9 inmates have escaped from SJ jail this year. One of the latest escapees already has two strikes under California's three strikes law for prior burglaries and was facing 25 years to life in state prison this time around. His parner and felliw escapee had one prior strike and also faced more than 20 years behind bars. Do not personally approach anyone stealing your mail or burglarizing your home unless you are prepared to expect the worst. Criminals are working in sophisticated crime rings, meaning there could be a partner with a gun lurking behind you while you are facing the suspect in front of you. In eight years, Sheriff Moore has failed to harden the perimeter of the jail. (Prison realignment was enacted in Oct 1, 2011.) Moore chose to roll over 8.5 million into next year's budget and spend $9 million on design plans for a fantasy jail when the number one priority should have been to build a fence around the existing facility. This race is too important. It should be one based on verifiable facts. We need a results driven leader like Pat Withrow who is offering fiscally prudent solutions and has the support of every law enforcement association in San Joaquin County.
