Letter: America, government is not your friend

I am delighted that Veterans Administration health care is being exposed to the American public before another election. If you like VA care, you will love Obamacare. I almost died under VA care.

Most voters have no clue what government bureaucracy is all about. I am not here to bash the VA. They have countless dedicated, capable employees.

You must first understand the “union” mindset. Unions are based on Marxist ideology. Many are true believers; they actually believe in the “tooth fairy and/or a free lunch.” Others are more cynical — how do I feather my own nest? Honest observers conclude that if you cannot compete in the capitalist system, get a job in government. I have witnessed this for many years from the inside. Deadbeats are everywhere. In the government employ they just get paid more, and in most cases cannot be fired.

Wise up. Government is not your friend. Tyrants always move to the fore.

The VA scandal has been uncloaked. The Obama charade continues.

You said, "Similar complaints have been lodged against prisons in America getting better medical treatment than many Americans."

I asked you to name a prison that has secret wait lists. I never said Gitmo has secret wait lists.

Why are you unwilling to say anything about the VA's secret wait lists?

When do you put your foot down, Mr. Birch? Unless it's something I've written, obviously!

There appears to be definite political bias in what comments are approved. What gives LNS? Are the positions you are defending so fragile that a few words from someone in the community might uncloak the charade?

    Gitmo has secret wait lists?
Wait wasn't this about VA hospital care? How did we go from there to Gitmo to 200 contractors in Iraq surrounded by enemy hostiles? I think we've gone

First - [offtopic] I don't know why YOU get a pass on topics that have nothing to do with the letter you are attaching them to. Try writing your own letter - OH! That's right! Your last letter was copied and pasted wholesale from the Internet.

Of course I care. Those 200 should get the heck out of Iraq and leave the rest to kill each other off once and for all.

We can't solve it, as much as Bush and Cheney thought they could. It is hundreds of years of religious conflict that we should never have stuck our noses in to begin with.

MR. BIRCH - SINCE YOU ARE SO PICKY ABOUT "STICKING TO THE TOPIC," WHY IS IT THAT YOU ARE ALLOWING LIEBICH TO TALK ABOUT IRAQ IN THIS THREAD.

YOU REALLY ARE EITHER EXTREMELY BIASED, INCONSISTENT, OR DON'T KNOW WHAT THE HELL YOU ARE DOING.

I SAY "ALL OF THE ABOVE." EITHER KEEP TO THE RULES OR ABOLISH THEM ONCE AND FOR ALL.

The 200 Americans at Balad Air Force Base are under attack by weapons supplied by the Obama Administration, the Obama Administration has issued stand down orders (again), but it's Bush's fault? Seriously? Americans are dying Mr. Heuer!

Back-peddling furiously? Hardly Ms. Bobin, you claimed that I said "ALL" the men and women who are being treated by the VA are getting lousy care. Despite your claim, I never said that.

Mr. Heuer, Can you name a prison that has secret wait lists? [sleeping]

Similar complaints have been lodged against prisons in America getting better medical treatment than many Americans. That being said there are few Americans who would give up their lives and move into a prison let alone Gitmo.

It again is an unfortunate circumstance for these contractors but its like the hikers that walk into Iran or North Korea and get captured. We need to put in danger more lives? How long has it been known that we are leaving Iraq? How long has it been known Iraqi leadership doesn't want us there? Malachi needs to solve it. As Ms Bobin said we have spent enough money there and shed enough blood there. We were promised for years by the Bush administration that we were training Iraqi troops to handle their own skirmishes. What do we get but insurgents (ISIS) taking our military assets against the Malachi government while Iraqi troops strip off their uniforms and flee in the face of the threat. What a mess. We should never have gone there and Americans in Iraq need to make better choices. The You Tube is a joke of incompetence in getting your facts straight before you start talking.

Who cares? Let Iraq rot in hell. We wasted 2 trillion dollars and thousands of lives of those killed and maimed.

Or let George W Bush fix it since he and Cheney were convinced they could solve thousands of years of sectarian fighting.

    Back-peddling furiously, eh, Mr. Liebich?

The "proof" is that YOU stated that prisoners in Guantanamo (all 150 of them) get better medical care than our veterans - hundreds of thousand of veterans.

You really must think I'm too stupid to understand the nonsense you love to spread and that words have no meaning.

Mr. Liebich stated: "My point was clear and 100% factual. Prisoners at Guantanamo Bay receive far better medical treatment than our military veterans do."

Really, Mr. Liebich? Where is your proof that the men and women who are being treated by the VA are ALL getting lousy care?

Maybe you should check with Mr. Kinderman who has stated numerous times in this forum that the VA saved his life when he was diagnosed with cancer. If we are to believe Mr. Osgood's contention that the VA almost killed him, I am sure that there are thousands of individuals with the same contention as Mr. Kinderman.

Your blanket statement - once again - is quite ridiculous. And you should be ashamed for denigrating all the men and women who have received excellent care at VA facilities simply for the sake of stating something that you think makes you sound superior.

Obama pledged to “make the VA a leader of national health care reform so that veterans get the best care possible“ back in 2008. Now Obama is claiming that he only learned of the “secret waiting lists” at VA hospitals by “watching television“ despite the fact that as a U.S. senator he served on the Veterans Affairs Committee.

p.s. Fox article? The information I used in my comment was from Pentagon spokesperson J.D. Gordon.[sleeping]

Based on the Fox article you used and the numbers you provided if we shifted the 100 medical personal, that treat the 150 Gitmo prisoners, to the VA staff and left zero medical personal at Gitmo the VA would have a staff of 268,030 and the ratio at the VA would drop to 34 to 1 instead of 35 to 1. The statement you are making is correct in principal and does serve to anger some but by correcting the situation and transferring all medical staff it would do very little to correct the VA's problems instead of inciting anger a better option would be to find effective solutions.

What is your point Ms. Bobin?

Are you suggesting that veterans must relocate to a Gitmo jail cell to get adequate VA medical care?

Most people like Mr. Liebich don't realize that treatment of prisoners of war are governed by the Geneva Conventions.

Therefore your attempted point is worthless.

Liebich: I agree with you, at times you will see the average al-Qaeda detainee playing soccer , being allowed to pray when necessary and for the most part have put on a few pounds, and must be provided with food they are accustom to, along with having access to the best health care the US can provide. Must be tough at Gitmo.

[off-topic] after yesterdays raking of religion and God in general over the coals, the powers to be at the LNS have not respond to anything from yesterday. And it just might be they will be very careful as to what topics are allowed in the future. Now back to some topics that people will understand without meaningless letters, right Boben.

Most Americans don’t realize this, but members of al-Qaeda detained at Guantanamo Bay actually receive far better medical treatment than our military veterans do.

The VA and Gitmo eligible patient-to-health care provider ratios speak volumes.

While the Gitmo ratio is 1.5 to 1, for America’s 9 million veterans receiving VA health care and 267,930 VA employees, the ratio is 35 to 1.

Oh, darn! Do you mean that we could have been spared this endless parade of meaningless letters, Mr. Osgood?

And I'm not sure how you are equating the VA to Obamacare. How, exactly, are they at all similar?
