Switzerland has a low crime rate, and guns
Cloud 9's true meaning is the Cloud of Truth.
The nation that has one of the lowest crime rates is Switzerland, a land of many languages. It is a republic with a presidential term of one year. The national military age is 20 to 60, and all must serve — a well-trained force. In every home there is one of the finest sub-machine guns.
Switzerland is a country without a leader who dictates or makes laws by the right of being a president to restrict or take arms from the people, nor has a political party who supports what he does.

Eric: Good points. ms collateral damage: another lie unearthed: The sale of ammunition – including Gw Pat.90 rounds for army-issue assault rifles – is subsidized by the Swiss government and made available at the many shooting ranges patronized by both private citizens and members of the militia. There is a regulatory requirement that ammunition sold at ranges must be used there.

If every gun owner wants to go through a few weeks of training/screening and then keeps their ammo sealed and available for regular inspection let's have that discussion otherwise lets keep the Swiss out of this debate. They don't have an Army, their healthcare is universal and federally controlled and their society encourages strong social safety nets if the gun lobby wants to use Switzerland as a societal model I'm sure the gun control faction can have that discussion.

Up until October 2007, a specified personal retention quantity of government-issued personal ammunition (50 rounds 5.56 mm / 48 rounds 9mm) was issued as well, which was sealed and inspected regularly to ensure that no unauthorized use had taken place.[4] The ammunition was intended for use while traveling to the army barracks in case of invasion.
In October 2007, the Swiss Federal Council decided that the distribution of ammunition to soldiers shall stop and that all previously issued ammo shall be returned. By March 2011, more than 99% of the ammo has been received. Only special rapid deployment units and the military police still have ammunition stored at home today.[5]

AGAIN MORE LIES! The Swiss militia (over 2000 of them) keep 50 rounds of ammunition at home WITH their weapon. Over 200,000 citizens attend a yearly gun shoot. Millions of private Swiss citizens OWN GUNS and can access ammunition... yet they have one of the lowest gun murder rates per capita in the world! Check your wiki ms collateral damage. Your statements are false, misleading and easily proven so.::::For someone who cares so little about the lives of the peacekeepers of this country it seems quite
Incongruous of you to worry about the fate of anyone else...if you die...bad...let a cop die...ehh...

Of course the fact that every "slaughter" has been committed by a libtard on SSRI's is just "conspiracy theory" right Ms. Bobin...[sleeping]

Mr. Kinderman is correct. The 23 executive orders will be available for all to see shortly after the next staged shooting.

With a population of just six million, Switzerland has 2 million publicly-owned firearms.

I agree, Mr. Ingram.
There can be no doubt that people can become desensitized by video games and graphic movies.

It really pays to READ ALL THE WORDS. The citizens ARE NOT ARMED.
Only members of the MILITIA are armed - and THEY DON'T HAVE ANY AMMUNITION, so your theory is dead in the water from the start.
Joanne Bobin posted at 1:27 pm on Sun, Jan 27, 2013.
Off topic, Mr. Maple.
I wonder if YOU are reporting back to Officer Tonn's family all of the instances in which you have invoked his name in this forum to ridicule people and to make your assinine remarks.
You should be ashamed of yourself.
The bottom line is, anyone in law enforcement goes to work everyday with the possibility of tragedy due to the nature of their work. I'm sorry, but if I had a magic wand I would remove all crime from the face of the Earth. But it doesn't work that way.
Patrick W Maple posted at 12:46 pm on Sun, Jan 27, 2013.
The point ms collateral damage is that they ARE armed. If criminals know this they are less likely to rob a home. I hope that you sent a sympathy card to the Galt police officer's family explaining your position on his death.

Many of the slaughters look like a scene from a first person shooter 'game'. !
Anyone think that 30 hours a week spent in front of a screen killing all kinds of people and humanoids might tweak a persons brain and make it easier to slaughter others in the real world ??

Interesting read:

Gun policies in Switzerland seem to be pretty tight.
Joanne Bobin posted at 12:41 pm on Sat, Jan 26, 2013.
I think that should have read, "Clouded Truth."
Members of Switzerland's military are divided into the regular army and the militia and a small percentage of professional soldiers (according to Wikipedia). The militia are "conscripted male citizens aged 20-34 (in special cases up to age 50)," and are required to keep their military issued weapons and all personal weapons at home. As of 2007, they do not keep any ammunition at home.
Mr. Johanson's narrative seems to indicate that ALL citizens are issued "the finest submachine guns" - a strange assertion considering Switzerland's policy of neutrality. The Swiss military does not participate in any armed conflicts in other countries and only serves in peacekeeping missions around the world.

Still no news on "the Cloud of Truth"?
Steve Schmidt posted at 10:00 am on Sat, Jan 26, 2013.
To be honest, as a proponent of the 2nd Amendment and an gun owner, I have not been overly excited about the Administration's gun control efforts to date.
Assault rifles (as defined in the proposed legislation) are guns for morons. No one I know has a mountable bayonet and/or a grenade launcher and pistol grips on semiautomatic rifles (as opposed to true automatic rifles) only serve to make them more inaccurate.
High capacity magazines are a bit more problematic, but, at a constitutional level, I don't really see how a 10 round limit is a problem.
The real issue here is at the state level with all of the talk about defacto bans (like NY) and, here in CA, limits on ammo purchases.
Steve Schmidt posted at 9:53 am on Sat, Jan 26, 2013.
Right, but here in the real world, no such Executive Order has been proposed, right?
Jerome Kinderman posted at 9:44 am on Sat, Jan 26, 2013.
Have patience, such an edict (Executive Order) has probably already been drafted and its publication is just waiting for the right time to be released to we lowly serfs.
Andrew Liebich posted at 9:11 am on Sat, Jan 26, 2013.
The process by which this could take place was made clear in a leaked US Army Military Police training manual for “Civil Disturbance Operations” (PDF) dating from 2006. Similar plans were also outlined in an updated manual released in 2010 entitled FM 3-39.40 Internment and Resettlement Operations.
