I am Riley's grandmother, Sandy. I want to let you know the enormity of emotion our family felt when we heard about this incredible story, "Erroneous email links Acampo school to girl with brain tumor," Dec. 15, about the children and David Phelps. Although we have never met this beautiful man, we're so proud of Mr. Phelps and his children, and can't wait to meet and hug them, one and all.

It would be so heartwarming and healthy if compassion such as Mr. Phelps has demonstrated would be part of the curriculum taught in the schools. It certainly would make our world a lot more friendly.

All of our family will be eternally grateful to Mr. Phelps and his outstanding caring class.
