The political angling of the Republican house produced the beautiful round symmetry of a circular firing squad. Instead of taking the country hostage as they did during the debt ceiling negotiations, they blew themselves up. The perfect storm of hubris, playing with the truth, wrong-headedness, and misplaced values were too weak to coerce the president into any further negotiations. The Democrats took a page from the Republican playbook and just said “no.”

The field has now been tilted, the Democrats are running downhill and the Tea Party Republicans are in retreat.

It’s better to pick your battles than to try to win them all.

Jim Sanders

Kind of like BO and his buddies...none of them have any toes left (no pun)...because they have shot themselves in the foot so many times! BTW where have all those miracle workers gone? You know the ones who were going to fix all of the Bush mistakes, problems, gaffs and economic woes??? I know he appointed one to the
USSC...but, where have all the flowers gone (PPM 60s song)?

Kim stated...I really do not understand the animoisty and hatred towards the Tea Party-

Kim, you cannot be serious. Any entity, person, place ot thing that diminishes the power of the left is hated by them.

I fail to see any significance of this letter.

    Again, reps v. dems.

I really do not understand the animoisty and hatred towards the Tea Party- an organization that only has 3 premises- Fiscal responsibility, Support of Free markets, and Limited Government. These are 3 things that are Constitution was based on so if you really hate these premises, maybe you belong in another country? People who feel compelled to replace GW Bush with the Tea Party, to be the recipient of their daily ranting is just beyond my comprehension. What do you hate so much? Do you REALLY know anything about the Tea party, other than what you hear from Jon Stewart, SNL and MSNBC? Do you know ANYTHING firsthand, using your own free will and reason? Do you kow anything about the 4 main different Tea Party groups, and their differences? You say Tea Party like they are all lumped in to one group and they are not- but you probably do not know that because you prefer to just make empty, unfounded statements that do not necessarliy bear any truth or have any factual basis. I just ask that before you throw darts, you know what you are attacking...But it is a lot easier to just lump all the GOP and teh Tea party in to one size fits all and dismiss having to do any research.

Don't worry Gary, you couldn't demean me if you tried.

Seems to me that those who use alliterative terms like "lefty leftist" should not demean anyone's "tiny head".

Reality is in the eye of the beholder... hope Mr Sanders in comfortable in his illusion. It's always nice for me when the left is placated as they sit quietly like a sleeping puppy. Otherwise, we get the mob-like Wall Street protesters and other such human debris that bark, jump and complain without knowing why.

"Battles", "firing squads", "blew themselves up", wow sounds like little Jimmy Sanders has quite a anger brewing in his tiny lefty leftist head.
