Letter: Nourish your body for a long life

One glass of water upon rising in the morning is good for you; you’re not hungry, you’re thirsty. Six to 8 glasses of water a day is needed.

You should eat to nourish your body, not to reward yourself. Moderation in all things is good. You should eat until you are 80 percent full. Don’t let your mind control your appetite. Your appetite won’t stop; the “I want, I want” won’t stop. Discipline yourself so others don’t have to.

You are not a garbage can! Eat to nourish your body, not to satisfy your appetite — stop it! It can’t be satisfied.

Pay attention to what you eat. Drink one glass of water a half-hour before your meal. Eat real food — raw vegetables, fruits, whole grains, nuts. Nuts have the protein of a steak but not the cost.

Go nuts and pay attention to portion control so your days will be long on this earth. Without discipline in life, it isn’t worthwhile.
