My recent comments printed in the Wednesday, Jan. 29 paper need some clarification.

During the Lodi City Council study session to receive information regarding future water utility policies, I said, "Some of these (regulations) and some of these proposals, I think, are a bit out of touch with reality." Specifically, that was in reference to a statement from a state water agency's future goal of having every unit in multi-family housing be metered for water.

In reality, many older multi-family apartments have two water lines into each unit — a cold water line, and a hot water line from a large community hot water heater tank. So, two meters for each apartment?

I urge all property managers, property owners and tenants in multi-family properties to be part of the upcoming discussions, and to voice your concerns and opinions on water metering multi-family housing in the city of Lodi.
