Lodi leaders have stepped up to help Lodi citizens
Fire, seniors, disabled citizens and homeless — I talked about these terms after a fire occurred near my home on Aug. 24. As a new resident, I wondered how much concern would be shown. I shouldn't have been worried. This is a follow-up to my original letter — and I'm certain as this situation progresses there will be more positive results. I also wrote a letter to the Lodi City Council.
Immediately after my letters to the council and the newspaper, I received replies from two city council members — JoAnne Mounce and Bob Johnson. Johnson came to my house (I wasn't home), inspected the fire area and met with the fire chief. As a result of his meeting, the code enforcement team visited me and examined the entire fire area. They are following up with communication to the proper agencies involved.
Mounce arranged a meeting with Rad Bartlam, our city manager. He explained problems in the past and put me in contact with some of the agencies involved with the area. He also promised support — a vital part of this entire process. I will be contacting the agencies involved, as well as those citizens expressing a concern about the homeless and some ways to make their lives better, while at the same time lessening the danger to our mobiles by fire.
My letter said, "Let's work together to solve this problem for everyone involved." That has been started and my neighbors, super older Americans, have gained a bit more peace of mind. Thanks to all.
