Letter: Every agenda cries over its rights and freedoms

A recent letter to the editor by a writer who identified herself as an atheist emotionally cried out for freedom for all, and rhetorically pleaded for believer and atheist alike to make peace and celebrate freedom for all.

But the crux of her letter seemed to be that believers bemoaning the removal of religion from the public square and crying over the loss of faith and worship to Jesus need to get over it, because the U.S. is a free country where everyone has a right and freedom to practice his/her own religion, creed of philosophy — and of course this is true to some degree.

But today, there is much bewailing over rights and freedoms by every agenda under the sun. Everyone has a right to this and that and the freedom to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness — all except our unwanted unborn. Come on, you say — but how the weakest and most vulnerable of us are treated sets the bar for how we are all treated; it is the standard by which we are all free to exercise the God-given rights we think we deserve. (Obamacare?)

Our freedom and rights do not originate with other men, they come from our Creator alone. My dear old dad used to say, “The only right any of us have is the right to do the right thing,” and, “Son, you really don’t want your just desserts.”

No thing, nothing can remove our worship of and faith in our Creator except ourselves. Hell is a gated community which gates will not prevail. Simply, like it or not, God wins.
