Although the crime rate has decreased in our state and nation, property crime appears to be increasing. The criminals who do crime in other cities appear to be expanding their base of operations and are committing crimes in our city.
Each of us can play an important part in keeping our streets and home safe. It begins with well-informed citizens followed by neighbors working together.
To keep you informed, I invite you to our second Town Hall meeting at 7 p.m. on Thursday at Carnegie Forum. We will discuss “Crime in Lodi, Keeping Our Streets Safe.”
Lodi Police Chief Mark Helms will make a PowerPoint presentation on the structure of our police department, their functions and what they are doing to keep our city streets safe. We will discuss how churches and organizations can contribute. Captain Martin Ross of the Salvation Army will make a short presentation on “Love Lodi.” A time will also be given for public comments and questions for the chief, city manager and council members.
