One morning I went out to pick up Lodi News-Sentinel, and gone were two Obama 2012 lawn signs from our front yard. This is a first for my wife and I, after putting up political candidates signs for more than 20 years. What's up with this kind of behavior?

We have watched more than one couple drive up to the house, stop, point and talk about the signs. Perhaps it was one of them who knows, but in general it was a malcontent who thinks people's freedom to vote for whomever they like, signs and all, should literally be taken away.

Look for two more Obama 2012 signs in the near future.

Only a conservative would think the theft of lawn signs promoting President Obama would be a good or safe thing.

As to the reported violence/vandalism.....blaming it on the presence of a Romney sign in the yard....go ahead and think what you want.

Ms Bobin stated...Now Mr. Baumbach wants to play the race, ethnicity, and religion card by claiming that President Obama "prefers an Indonesian Muslim (sic) society
Normally, I like to answer absurdity by being absurd in return, but in this case, Ms Bobin is almost to the point of hysteria so Ill simply refute her claim with appropriate dialogue.

I believe that president Obama prefers a society that he enjoyed, embraced and lived in for most of his childhood. In my view, that is normal, healthy and admirable as most people, like Obama, appreciate all the wonderful things childhood brings to caring loving families. This society just happened to be in Indonesia with a Muslim population close to 85%. If he had a normal childhood , he would have fond memories of all his friends, family, teachers, classmates and mentors who is documented to have been Muslim.
That is not a negative or a criticism of anything, but a simple truth of his past.

President Obama wrote his book in 1995 titled “The Dreams from my Father”, who was Muslim and someone he appreciated. In this book, he talked about his experiences in the Indonesian society that made him who he is today. He praised his experiences of his Muslim upbringing and he himself has said there is nothing as wonderful as hearing a particular Muslim prayer that was constantly with him during his childhood.

Lastly, I think is would be odd if he did not appreciate his childhood model of society he lived in for so many years. It is my opinion, since he said America needed transforming, that he would like to transform it to a society he loves and admires, which is in Indonesian style arrangement.

Since I have had very good experiences living in Muslim areas in Malaysia and South Thailand, I have no reason to believe Obama, who has many Muslim relatives, would not embrace this type of wonderful society that formed the basis of how Obama sees the world.

Someone was doing you a faver by taking your signs down.
My brother told me someone had an obama sign across
the street from him and they set fire to there car in the driveway
plus they took the signs too.

I agree Eric. ANY work is better than NO work for those that are still looking.

I agree with the article that it is definitely positive news but that the news could be better. The point is that we are seeing improvements in the economy also I know of a young man who has been looking for work for more than a year and recently found a job at Home Depot the job is part time but this fellow is certainly better off than he was. It will now be up to him to do a good job and see if he can turn it into a full time job. I imagine many companies put people to work on a part time basis and see how they do and how business is going before making those positions full time.

Eric: While I am happy more people are working what are those jobs? Several of the articles I have read say the same thing, the are part time jobs.

    http://blogs.wsj.com/economics/2012/10/05/why-did-the-unemployment-rate-drop-9/
From the article "In September, the number of part-time workers who would like full-time jobs surged by 582,000. That represents about two-thirds of the increase in employment last month and is larger than the drop in the number of unemployed. That’s why the U-6 stayed at 14.7% in September."

If a republican was adding nothing but part time jobs the liberal media would be screaming ho horrible they were. Why not the same for a Dem. president?

Mr. Pagia wrote: "Makes me wonder what Eric would call the people who take Romney signs from peoples yards. Wasn;t it last week that someone was complaining that their Romney signs made their house the target of violence?"

Stealing signs is a juvenile occupation. As for the latter part of this comment, no, someone complained that his anti-OBAMA bumper stickers had been vandalized on his truck.

As for Mr. Kinderman's comment regarding lawn signs influencing opinions about candidates, that is not the point of lawn signs. They are simply an expression of the individual home owner's freedom of speech and their right to display the name of the candidate they support.

Dow Jones Over 13,600 ( How is your 401K looking )
    Unemployment 7.8% ( Yes that is under 8% )
Real Clear Politics's polls show Obama currently has 251 electoral college votes and leads in all but 2 swing states. I think the fat lady is warming up.

Mr Barrow stated...many people are realizing that Obama’s policies are turning this economy around...

Many people also think the space aliens from planet Bizarre-o are living among us, but that does not mean it is reality.

Obama"not"care has crippled our economy because of the fear and uncertainty this law has created in businesses who no longer hire new employees. They know that 2014 is D Day for the bulk of this draconian law to be implemented.

How funny that Mr Barrow perceived that a center piece of Obama's efforts, which has done nothing to turn around anything as mostly has not began, is evidence of Obama turning the economy around..

No, it is more likely that space Aliens are living among us... Come to think of it, I thought Mr Barrow was a bit different from us humans. Maybe it's my imagination.

Peter I wouldn’t worry about the comments so far, with the stock market breaking 13,500, the resurgence of the auto industry, manufacturing numbers better than expected and home prices stabilizing many people are realizing that Obama’s policies are turning this economy around. Of course this is why his approval ratings are up and higher than Romney’s and every poll out there shows him well above Romney in Electoral College Votes. In fact he has a lead in every swing state except North Carolina and that states keeps going back and forth. Romney needs to win almost every swing state to win the election and he is going to have to change a lot of minds to do that. I certainly don’t think his dishonesty in last night’s debate is going to accomplish that. Your signs were probably taken by some frustrated rightwing nut that is clueless as to what is good for them and the country. I won’t name names but maybe even one of those leaving comments to your letter.

Of course I also don't condone the stealing of anything, even if it is a valueless political sign.

On the other hand, I've often wondered just how influential these things are especially as it pertains to presidential candidates. What are the odds of someone reconsidering their position after viewing one (or many) Obama/Romney placards as they drive through a neighborhood? If that's all it takes then I suppose such a befuddled voter would vote for (or against, depending upon mood) the last sign gazed upon before casting their ballot.

When it comes to inane bumper stickers I’d more inclined to vote against whoever had the most supporters driving around with them affixed to their vehicles. In fact, based upon one I saw just the other day during my drive to Sacramento, I will most definitely not vote for “Kerry/Edwards” (whoever they might be).

While I do not condone "this kind of behavior" it really ought to tell you something when it hasn't happened "for more than 20 years."

As far as your "freedom", thanks to President Obama it can "literally be taken away."

Perhaps you are OK with President Obama indefinately detaining American citizens without due process. I'm guessing the person and/or persons who stole your signs isn't.

Could be people are more frightened and concerned over the plight America finds itself in because of the damage the Obama Administration is inflicting on our country. People are probably shocked that someone might be so clueless that they would support 4 more years for Obama to dismantle our country and transform it in the likes of the "Dreams from his Father"...a man who prefers an Indonesian Musim society to that of America as it was.
