As the subject of a recent article about faith and finances (“Financial adviser Jeff Glenn combines investing with faith,” Sept. 5, 2013), I would like to thank Ross Farrow for a great article about Thrivent Financial for Lutherans.

I am writing this letter to make a clarification to a specific sentence in the article. Mr. Farrow suggested that I don’t agree that people should give money to the Lord off the top, even before paying others expenses.

In fact, I do personally believe that as Christians, we should share our “first fruits” with the church! These gifts often come in the form of money. However, when gifts of money are not an option, then these gifts should be offered in the form of giving of one’s time or talents.

Professionally, our purpose as a company is to strengthen Christian communities by helping members be wise with their money and inspiring them to live generously. We succeed when our members and their communities thrive.

If you would like to learn more about the work I do as a financial associate with Thrivent, please feel free to contact me.
