Somebody asked me why I would vote for President Obama, and here was my reply:

Obama said he would get "don't ask, don't tell" repealed, and he did. He said that wherever Osama bin Laden was, that we would get him, even if it was in another country, and he did. He said on election night in Chicago in 2008 that the path back would be hard and steep, and he is right. He said he would wind down the war in Iraq, and he did.

Did he do everything he said he would do? No. Do I agree with everything he says or does? No. Is there more positive than negative in his job performance? Yes.

He wants to invest in future clean energy sources. Did every investment pay off? No. But if you don't start somewhere, you will not get anywhere. No one is perfect!

He wants the more well-to-do to share a greater burden tax-wise, so that the middle class and below can have a greater chance to move up the economic ladder.

DB: Let's give credit where it is due...my parents and yours. They taught us respect for ourselves and others. That respect came from their work ethic and the belief that you should EARN your way through life. Our parents taught us HOW to work as well as TO work...something that is sorely missing today.

Native American...Cherokee, Choctaw, Chickasaw on my father's side...Blackfoot and Illinois on my mother's...so I guess that would make me and old red guy? BTW Redskins was a term used to describe the Delaware tribal people...they would use red berry juice to outline their ears, lips, eyes and other body parts for various reasons. It was also used the Spanish explorers to describe the sun-burnt tribes of the Plains regions. It did not become a perceived derogatory term until the early 60's when AIM and a few other militant tribal groups took offense to it...Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee...

It appears that the only one who is misdirected and vile with animosity is Mr Chang who has it out for old white guys who are not white guys.

Pat, I thought you were Indian ( and very proud of it)? It appears that Mr. Chang thinks you are an old white guy since his bigotry filters his reality. Or am I wrong, are you an old white guy Mr. Chang thinks you are?

Pat stated...I climbed the economic ladder and many other ladders to get to my modest success...as you alluded to...how much do we have to give away?

I am not sure I agree with the way this is stated... I think a better question would be ...
How much of our hard earned income are we going to allow to be confiscated and seized before we do something about it? Liberals force you... it is not yours to give in their mind.

Personally, I am doing something about it now, I'm not waiting. I already assume that tax rates and revenues are going up in a stealth manner. IE...Obamacare tax, medical equipment tax etc etc..
I will not feed the tax dragon legally.

By the way Pat, I very much respect and appreciate your contribution to what has made America...America. Unfortunately, there are not enough people like you.

Well pointed Mr Chapman...and at the right people. As I have posted here many times, MY mother and her three small sons picked grapes, fruits and vegetables in order to stay off of welfare and be able to pay our bills. She and my father were Dust Bowl children...Okies.

I am college educated, own a 30 year old business, was a swimming and baseball coach for over 25 years, served my country, served on school boards for over 14 years and have been married to the same young lady for over 40 years...does that make me well to do? I climbed the economic ladder and many other ladders to get to my modest success...as you alluded to...how much do we have to give away?

Oh.... and how many millions of people sniffed glue? I don't remember a glue sniffing epidemic, save the second half of the 60's and then they changed the formula to one that didn't smell or hold pieces of plastic together. Those people who would have accidentally inhaled glue or inhaled it on purpose would be in at least in their late 60"s, approaching senility.

So those who voted for Romney would have been the paint sniffers? More likely cigarettes and beer. Nothin' better on a hot day. Or cold night.. I guess the cons mostly smoked and drank through life, rarely sober and always coughing first thing in the morning.

Mr. Duey stated, "He wants the more well-to-do to share a greater burden tax-wise, so that the middle class and below can have a greater chance to move up the economic ladder."
I would suggest if the middle class and below want to move up the economic ladder, figure out how it is done like those who have "moved up the economic ladder" have done.
Regardless of how much more taxes the "well-to-do" are forced to pay, NONE of it will trickle down to the middle class and lower. Give the government $1 and they will spend $1.50.
There have been "wealthy" and "poor" people on this earth ever since it was formed. Always will be that way regardless of government tax mandates.

Better for WHO? Tell that to the 23 million people that can't find work. Tell that to the people who are still getting their homes reposessed. Tell that to the businesses who are forced to close because the economy is in the toilet. Yeah, Mr. Lucas, "things" are better. Get real.

you were younger and now you don't know any better.

Typical response from a faux fake democratic ourcry of indignity and feigned carring mrl...not to mention the fake outcry of dispair and anguish for those you call put upon and mistreated by everyone...the fake societal victims that you support...or you that we who work support.

People like mrl, mrsb and this letter writer live in denial. GB had control of the economy for only 6 years...in 2006 the democrats took over congress and the fiscal responsibilities. GB had a GREAT record until then. The dems and bo have had control ever since. Now, 53% of the population is in the wagon 47% are pulling it. I agree with Ms Winters only I will shorten the time to two years. BO got re-elected because people didn't want to lose their freebies...they want someone else to pay for their lives.

Yes, 4 years from now when all of the Republicans, including many TEA Party candidates, have crowded to the left as they have already begun to do in order to become relevant.

Speaking of Generals P & A - Here's an interesting article for both Mr. Kinderman and Mr. Kindseth:

    http://www.theatlantic.com/magazine/archive/2012/11/general-failure/309148/

But I wouldn't want either to get ill over the topic - better take some of that Prilosec, Mr. Kinderman.

No "American Thinker" today, Mr. Kindseth? I love it when Mr. Kindseth references articles in the ONLY publications he reads - all extreme right wing publications.

I guess we are back to the old phrase, "ramming the "Affordable Health Care Act" down our collective national throats."

I imagine Mr. Kinderman is not included in the "collection" since he already get FREE medical care from the VA so is in no way affected by the ACA.

Well I do not know about 4 years from now but it is certainly better than 4 years ago when George Bush and the Conservatives rule the world.

Really? All I can say is that it is much better than when George Bush and the Conservatives were in charge.

Mr Duey, if possible, please re-state your position 4 years from now. I would be very interested to hear what you have to say then.

Indeed Mr. Kindseth, Mr. Duey had 174 words yet to play with but decided to ignore such memorable events as nearly an entire year (25% of President Barack Hussein Obama's first term) ramming the "Affordable Health Care Act" down our collective national throats. Clearly he must have feared the counter to that had he reminisced about the value of the bill but ignored the bribes, tricks and other fun and frolic engaged in by our so-called "leaders." Nothing much else was accomplished during 2010; I guess there’s no such thing as multi-tasking in the Obama White House.

And as the campaigning was nearing its end, there’s no mention in Mr. Duey's letter of Libya and now the emerging questions surrounding President Obama's CIA Director.

But all in all it's been a wonderful four years - especially considering that the unemployment figures are just about the same as when he promised it would never go above 8%.

This is a much more reasoned and balanced letter than the hate-filled, anti-capitalist, anti-American letter that appeared in yesterday's edition.
