The 1,000 of us who use the Hutchins Street Square pool would like to thank the city of Lodi, the Department of Parks and Recreation, the Maintenance Department and the Hutchins Street Square Foundation for the repairs.

The walls have been fixed, the heater is working, we have new showerheads and the black mold is gone. We all want to thank you all.

Hutchins is one of the few remaining historical sites in the City of Lodi. Its a Lodi treasure and should be treated that way. The age group that uses that pool love it. They pay to use it. Its a place where you can go swim without kids jumping and screaming. To some people that is important. It should not come down to dollars. We are talking minor repairs. Here is a link to their services. http://www.hutchinsstreetsquare.com/pool/index.php I would bet to say that Twin Arbors would be hard pressed to match that cost. Comming from a swimmer I am suprised you want to see any pool closed. And a pool that is getting great use to boot. I have been there for many CPR trainings and always see people in there. To compare the Hutchins population to the masters that swim at Tokay is a non-issue. I bet those some of those masters would love to be swimming indoors. The fact is, the pool has its uses. Go there some time to see the enjoyment people get out of it. If we want to talk about money pits, Tokay is one of the worst. That all comes down to management and Bickering clubs.

I actually would question if there are 1000 people who use the pool at Hutchins Street Square on a regular basis. The City would have saved a bunch of money by shutting down the pool. Between two masters swimming programs at Tokay High and three additional year round heated pools at Twin Arbor facilities I am not so sure this is a smart use of our tax payer dollars. The City could subsidize the 1000" to use Twin Arbor facilities. Three pools to choose from, one indoors, hot tubs, locker rooms and weight facilities to boot. Not a bad deal for those current swimmers at Hutchins and a big savings for the City. Just a thought.
