This is in regards to the letter written by Dave Hinchman on Dec. 10 in the Lodi News-Sentinel.

Mr. Hinchman was not only the mayor of Lodi, he also was the principal at Lakewood School.

Many have voiced opposition to the water rate increases, and I think Mr. Hinchman has more credibility than the city.

I have written the council several times. The only one who always responds is JoAnne Mounce. She doesn’t always agree, but I respect her and appreciate her reply. This is another ailment of our great country. City council is entry-level government. Their job is to represent us, and listen to “we the people.”

What was said about Mr. Bartlam ramming the water rates and hiding it from the people is what we need to hear. Kind of Pelosi-like, we need to pass it so we can find out what is in it. Yeah, well you see how the Affordable Care Act (Obamacare) is going,

We know costs go up, but 3 percent a year for 5 years guaranteed is ridiculous.

I recently wrote the council. When I went to deliver my letter of opposition to the city clerk, upon entering the building — two people on the left and two on the right talking and drinking coffee — not one could say “Hello, welcome to the city of Lodi, how can I help you?” I had to ask where the city clerk was. And the reply I received was a finger pointing to the upstairs.

I am sure it wasn’t easy for Mr. Hinchman to write that letter. But “we the people” deserve better. Mr. Bartlam, like Pelosi, thinks we are pawns in their chess game, and they are the king and queen.
