Are you satisfied with the direction this country is taking? Are you willing to say your piece? In my opinion I see a change in this country that is a liberal takeover.

It seems I no longer have a political party to align with; big money giving the people a candidate who can be controlled to do their bidding, DOMA not being defended, repeal of Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell, so many new laws being passed by federal and state benefiting homosexuals. If you are a state employee and a homosexual, you may put your significant other on your medical insurance, but if you are a heterosexual and would like to add your partner, it is not allowed — just check it out.

Disarming law-abiding American people means only the criminals will have guns, of which there is no end to the supply. Our borders are not being protected, illegal criminals are being turned loose instead of being deported by our federal government and our state government, and E-Verify cannot be used because your infringing on someone’s rights. It does not matter where you are from, this is your home now — respect it and protect it.

How can there be rights when you are in this country illegally, and it does not matter what country you are from? How many people do you know who went through night school and the whole process of becoming a U.S. citizen? So many people come here to practice their religion, their laws and customs, and ignore the laws of this nation. When you accept citizenship you take an oath to abide by our laws, and to protect and defend this great country. If you are not a citizen of this country and don’t intend on doing so, then pack your bags and I will be glad to hold the door open for you so it won’t hit you in the posterior.

    Ms. Bobin,

On a side note. I'm sure you're aware when Gov Brown did not not defend Prop. 8 and those who voted yes for it this was in direct violation of the oath he took when he became Gov. Now, whether you care or not is another story.

I've never referred to Wikipedia. I do recall John Lucas or maybe it was someone else on these bloggs writing a letter and one of the points was Classical Liberalism. I'm almost sure you agreed with what the person wrote about what Party is the epitome of CL.. As far as Socialist Liberalism. Are you saying you now don't agree with this that it is the epitomy of the Democratic Party?

Socialist Liberal Democrats Will Destroy America and Sadly the Left Wing Media Will Gladly Help

    A clip:

Obama is a student and follower of the Socialist - Communist theory and practices of punishing the productive while rewarding the unproductive and incapable. What was once a dream of success and riches after applying oneself to an ethic of hard work and study is long gone and any just rewards for that hard work will be taken from them and given to those who show no attitudes to succeed.

This credo assures that in time you will be successful by doing nothing, but when the hard workers disappear, businesses and then jobs disappear and the level of living drops and poverty becomes the norm. At this pace America will become another third rate nation because all the producers will have moved on to where they can achieve.

Strangely, this backwards formula is quietly endorsed by the left media who speak out not against the promotion of laziness and do-nothingness, but only towards elements of our society that seek to create jobs. The failures of this current socialistic government that masquerades as being successful are propped up by the anti-American thinking of the ‘no-conservative-news’ advocates of ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN and MSNBC.

    Not so fast Ms. Bobin.

The Republican party was classical liberal then and now. Democratic Party was socialist liberal then and now. Republicans were conservative in the sense that they believed in the principles of the constitution and the bill of rights. They also believed in adding to it so that black men were free and women got the vote. It is old day Democrats who supported slavery and segregation and while they claim to not hold those sort of principles anymore, their ideas, their legislation keeps not only the the black man chained to poverty, chained to dependency, but people of all races. In that they have come forward to equality for all men: equality of misery and dependency on government.

And then they realized what a stupid mistake they made.

Get some education about history, Mr. Dockter. Republicans and Democrats began reversing roles in the sixties as soon as Southern Democrats got a whiff of what was coming they jumped ship and became Republican bigots instead of Democrat bigots.

    -John,

Actually, it would be a disaster if either party was in complete control. Hence, your belief Republicans are in complete control is just a pipe dream. Even though Democrats hold firm in their beliefs that the two parties must do everything they can to work in harmony with eachother. When it comes to throwing a wrench into the works, Not that the Republicans have never fillibustered. Democrats wrote the book on fillibustering.

Once again we see Ms Bobin and her ilk expressing their allegiance for the Left. In their minds it's not only a matter of how much money the left can spend, it's also hwo much they can spend to spite the Conservative movement that is still the backbone of this country.

    Now,

If history prooves to be repeated, in the next generation or so we'll see Liberals taking credit for many of the things George W. Bush passed while he was in office. All too many times have we witnessed a Liberal denying the fact it was Liberals who fillibustered the Civil Rights Act of the 60's and many of the things GW AND Reagan passed while they were in office.

It used to be morally acceptable to kill blacks if they even glanced at a white woman. Why in the world would ANYONE accept the type of morality offered by the Evangelical/Conservative right given their history?

    -Hmm,

Ladies and gentlemen, who was it that abolished the institution of slavery? It was the Republican Party, it was a Republican President, it was a conservative who abolished the institution of slavery. Who was it that filibustered the Civil Rights Acts in the Sixties? It was liberals, it was progressives. It was conservative Republicans that voted in greater percentages that voted for the Civil Rights Act then Democrats did. Who where the ones that were standing hosing people off with fire hoses? Those were Democrats, those were liberals that were doing that. - See more at: http://www.rightwingwatch.org/content/fischer-it-was-liberals-who-opposed-fight-civil-rights#sthash.828qidzS.dpuf

"Actually, it’s all that doggone spending that liberals simply love to do, especially when it’s someone else’s money that after nearly five years of the Obama administration has us trapped in this economic malaise."

FYI - the economic disaster that was left to us courtesy of the Bush (Republican) Administration is recovering much faster than predicted, despite the efforts of Republicans to hold the American people hostage due to their rage over the election of Obama.

As for spending, the GOP amendments to the immigration bill recently passed in the Senate included equipment SPECIFICALLY SPELLED OUT BY MANUFACTURER:

"The legislation would require the U.S. Border Patrol to acquire, among other items, six Northrop Grumman airborne radar systems that cost $9.3 million each, 15 Sikorsky Black Hawk helicopters that average more than $17 million apiece, and eight light enforcement helicopters made by American Eurocopter that sell for about $3 million each."

"The legislation also calls for 17 UH-1N helicopters made by Bell Helicopter, an older model that the company no longer manufactures."

Along with billions for Border Patrol agents and fencing and "border technology," the GOP sponsors stated:

" Sens. Bob Corker (R-Tenn.) and John Hoeven (R-N.D.), who co-sponsored the plan, said the provisions were aimed at assuaging the concerns of Republicans who are wary about creating a path to citizenship without tougher border measures.

“I was just trying to work with our caucus to get as many of our guys to participate,” Hoeven said."

"I WAS JUST TRYING TO WORK WITH OUR CAUCUS...." who, according to Mr. Kinderman, never spend a nickel more than necessary because the "liberals simply love to" spend us into oblivion.

    What a joke!

"Liberals don’t want anyone else’s notion of morality rammed down their throats; why in the world should conservatives be forced to “accept” it? "

Perhaps because conservatives CANNOT POSSIBLY fathom the difference between what is Constitutional in this country and what they call "morality."

It used to be morally acceptable to kill blacks if they even glanced at a white woman. Why in the world would ANYONE accept the type of morality offered by the Evangelical/Conservative right given their history?

"Had his remarks been directed at liberals/progressives, there would have been rioting in the streets."

Was there 'rioting in the streets" in reaction to the Court's decision on the Voting Rights Act? THAT legislation was won by the BLOOD of many a human being, Mr. Kinderman, and the Supreme Court struck it down like it had absolutely no meaning. And within hours, the bigots in Texas enacted their law that restricts the voting rights of thousands.

Your claim that the Supreme Court is "overstepping its bounds," for some strange reason ONLY applies to rulings YOU don't like. Ever wonder why that is? Maybe it's called "intolerance," or worse - because if I put the real reason here it would be deleted.

Your hero's in the House of Representatives and the filibusters in the Senate are making sure their and your corporate masters are getting what they want which is the status quo. As to Obamacare it is certainly better than we had but to get it passed we had to make sure the corporations got their cut. If we put everyone on medicare it would save the economy a trillion dollars a year.

So, it’s the “corporations with their lackeys, the Republican party [who] are firmly in control” that has this administration impotent in “[solving] the many problems this country faces?”

If I understand Mr. Tillett correctly, he believes that liberals ARE in control. Maybe it’s because there’s a fundamental lack of understanding as to who is running the country that still has the economy foundering.

Actually, it’s all that doggone spending that liberals simply love to do, especially when it’s someone else’s money that after nearly five years of the Obama administration has us trapped in this economic malaise. With ObamaCare supposedly ready to roll out in 2014, I think we’ll experience a complete understanding of what was in that bill that no one thought necessary to read before passing that will hopefully and finally wake people up to the reality of this failed presidency. Will it be too late to fix things? I really don’t know. One can only “hope.”

Mr. Tillett, I suppose your solution might have been to simply wait until early afternoon to read this particular LTE. I don’t believe anyone forced it upon you - unlike ObamaCare.

Now as far as Mr. Barrow’s comments are concerned, I recall not too long ago that the buzz-word was “tolerance” of others; now it’s been elevated to “acceptance.” The next logical step would be for all of us to “celebrate” the behaviors of everyone. Utopia simply doesn’t exist - it cannot exist in a nation where one’s journey to happiness is different than another’s.

There are many of us who through our faith believe certain things to be wrong. Yet we’ve now got the Supreme Court overstepping its bounds well beyond the scope of its duties. Justice Anthony Kennedy’s majority opinion insofar as the Defense of Marriage Act went beyond the pale. Had his remarks been directed at liberals/progressives, there would have been rioting in the streets. And while I think that would do no good, I do believe a little civil disobedience on the part of conservatives might be apropos in this case.

Liberals don’t want anyone else’s notion of morality rammed down their throats; why in the world should conservatives be forced to “accept” it? I do find it rather humorous that DOMA was signed into law by a Democrat president. Obviously, Bill Clinton experienced some sort of epiphany that would have him later advocate for its repeal. Even our current president up until about 18 months ago believed that marriage should be limited to one man and one woman. It’s funny how politicians stick their saliva-soaked fingers in the air to see which way the political winds are blowing – so much for holding to one’s core beliefs. Votes do come at a very high cost, yes?

Nevertheless, we are a nation of laws, not of men. For the most part we obey the law as well as the decisions of our courts. We rely upon the hope that certain wrongs will eventually be righted. But since the decision of SCOTUS is the final say, that doesn’t mean that somewhere or sometime down the road things will turn out alright in the end. Maybe.

While this might call for accusations of my being “hateful” or even “intolerant.” In reality, I simply disagree. I am neither hateful nor intolerant – what I’ve offered on these pages over the years and in how I live my life bears this out well. I think we can live in harmony even though we disagree; it’s just a shame that liberals by and large cannot.

If Ben Coleman had checked ANYTHING out, it should have been this statement that is full of misinformation.

If you are in either a HETEROSEXUAL or SAME-SEX relationship, you can file for a Domestic Partnership which will entitle you to obtain health benefits through either "partners" health plan, whether same-sex or opposite sex.

This is the type of baloney that gets people up-in-arms about same-sex relationships. Coleman is either ignorant of the facts, or wishes to mislead the public into believing that same-sex couples have more rights that opposite sex couples.

As for his other claims, obviously he is a fan and low-information devotee of Joe Guzzardi who swallows everything that columnist has to say - sans verification of the facts.

Liberals are taking over because their economic policies work and their ideologies of personal freedom, responsibility to the community and acceptance of others are seen as beneficial to society.
