Editor: For the past two weeks it’s been my pleasure to work with three senior English classes at Lodi High School who have an interest in helping the homeless in Lodi. They are “project based learning” classes that take on a project, and in the process, learn real life skills.

The Short Terms Solutions Sub-Committee of the Committee on Homelessness provided the classes with a menu of projects, and they are currently working on three.

One is a drive-thru Taco Dinner to be held on May 25 between 4 and 7 p.m. at the Salvation Army on Lockeford Street. Each dinner is $8 and can be ordered and paid for through a GoFundMe account. Go to www.gf.me/u/c6spu. You won’t be disappointed, and even better, you’ll be supporting caring and enthusiastic LHS students engaged in “doing good.” What’s better than that?

The students are also working on other projects. They are building a Facebook page for the Committee on Homelessness. They are interviewing previously homeless individuals about what it took to escape being homeless.

And lastly, thanks for your support in advance.
