Bread of Life needs volunteers
Imagine my surprise when I saw my picture in last Wednesday's (Jan. 23) paper. I was in line at Bread of Life getting a serving of pancakes from one of the teen volunteers. Volunteers are welcome to get breakfast, as well as those in line for food.
I am also a volunteer. In fact, I was one of the first volunteers, when Bread of Life was located at Faith Community Church on Kettleman Lane near Target. I am also one of the "working poor" who gets groceries from Bread of Life once a month.
For all those who do not know, Faith Community did not disband or dissolve. We moved to Acampo at 18621 N. Highway 99. It is the site of what was Calvary Bible Church. We had grown a lot as a church, and they were selling their property. Faith Community purchased the property and we moved in.
The move was wonderful; room to breathe. However, it meant that people could not get there (for Bread of Life). Many do not have transportation.
At that point, Ebenezer Congregational Church saw the need and stepped up. That is also another wonderful church, with just the right amount of room to unload a truck full of food and is centrally located.
Bread of Life is every third Saturday of the month. People arrive around 7 a.m. but the truck doesn't get there until around 10 a.m. We need volunteers to unload trucks, pack up the food for distribution and delivery to cars or carts, and cleanup. We need meal volunteers, since Bread of Life feeds those who wish to eat while waiting. Coffee is served to keep warm. Everyone is welcome.

Good luck Barbara Sefried, I would like to help but I live in Sacto. If Your Church or any other community service needs a driver I'd like to volunteer. I am retired.
