Leaving Iraq is a bad choice

Surrendering again? Well, here we go again. Being a proud veteran of Vietnam, I had to hang my head when we surrendered that time.

Now I have to hang my head again in shame for starting another war to help people seek freedom and then running away to let a broken government and its people to fend for themselves.

The world looks to us for guidance and support, and we are showing them it's better to live with what they have, because if they want our help, it comes with a bitter price. When we left Vietnam, Cambodia got Pol Pot, who killed millions. I just wonder who Iraq will get.

BulldogWe had a body count at the end of Feb or Jan that showed more soldiers committed suicide than were killed in combat. Do you really want that on the news every night?

If I were an Al Queda cell, I would just sit in my cave for another 18 months, stockpile my weapons, train my men, and wait till the soldiers leave. Then I would cut loose and overthrow the government. Hey, I know when they are leaving, so why not. This is a huge blunder on the part of the president. He could draw down the troops in secret, but our MSM wants to report every single thing to the enemy.Notice that now that Obama is president, we are not getting new body counts every day? During the election, every newscast had an new body count. I guess it was only news that a soldier died when it helped get Obama elected.

We have no business there but we have started something and it would be unfair to just let them do it alone. Bush was dead wrong but so is Obama. He is making us a government owned and run country. Where will our freedoms lie then? Who will help us as we are helping others? We will be a communist country in no time with Obama leading us.

I was under the impression that Mr Bush signed an agreement with the Iraqi's as to when the US military would have to leave. They don't want us there. They paid not a dime for the war, contrary to what the American people were told. Now they have nice healthy bank accounts they can afford to be pushy.

Ed, I am a disabled Vet, and I disagree! One does not Fight to Win a war that obviously could never be WON! The middle east countries have been killing each other by the thousands, for thousands of years! We in truth, have accomplished NOTHING for the Iraqi people but death and hate for America. We have lost thousands of our own soldiers in this war! We are no better off then we were 8 years ago, but BILLIONS of dollars in debt, destroyiong our economy, businesses, and families! Afghanistan is EXACTLY the same BLUNDER! Those people hate and want only Billions we give them, and to fight their battle. We must NOW Focus on out Own Country's Crisis! I understand you mindset... but giving up our lives to ungrateful countries who spit on us and roadside bomb us every chance they get is not my plan! Iraq should have been paying America Hundreds of Billions of dollars from their FAT bank accounts for America to be there, instead of destroying our country financially! We need to get out of both of those countries.

I'm not so certain that we're actually surrendering in Iraq. As set forth in his plans for withdrawal, President Obama has dismayed many in his own party by announcing that he'll leave up to 50,000 troops in the region 18 months from now. However, as many have argued since this war began, telegraphing our intentions regarding our tactical and strategic decisions is a terrible idea. There I believe Obama has goofed big time.
