Editor: This letter is to thank the young lady who purchased groceries for my dad at Wal-Mart on Monday. My dad is a World War II veteran who always is wearing a hat stating such.

On Memorial Day, he was in line at Wal-Mart and joked with the young lady behind him about buying his groceries. My dad likes to joke and give people a hard time. When he went to pay for his bill, she told the cashier that she was going to pay. He said he tried to talk her out of doing so, but she insisted.

He said he was concerned because she was young and worried she wouldn’t have enough money to cover her needs. So to the young , thank you for giving a 91-year-old man some love. It’s been a hard year with losing his wife of 69 years in October. God Bless you.
