On behalf of the Breakthrough Project for Social Justice, I would like to thank the LUSD Board of Education for the passage of a resolution affirming that public schools in Lodi will be a safe zone for students.
This action confirms that Lodi Unified will follow state and federal laws currently in place. In the current political climate, many immigrant communities are gripped by uncertainty and fear. In revisiting current laws and formalizing their importance by way of the resolution, school leaders took a compassionate step forward, reassuring families that schools are a safe place for their children.
The Breakthrough Project was begun in 1998 to celebrate Lodi’s diversity and “to eliminate all forms of social oppression and bigotry.”
Lodi schools, under the direction of dedicated educators, will continue to welcome all children each and every day. They are protecting the civil liberties of those who will one day lead, and in turn, bring benefit to Lodi.
