A truly "local" newspaper is a precious and irreplaceable community resource. It is the wellspring and vessel of public dialogue — the essence of all that is our "freedom of speech," and not responsible nor accountable to anything but the people and the truth.
Thank you to the Weybret family for one of the very few family-owned local newspapers around, and for their valuable contribution to the community. It should be appreciated that the Lodi News-Sentinel isn't one of a publishing conglomerates' "bevy of bordello belles" whose favors belong only to gold-grasping thieves and cigar-sucking politicos.
Thank you to the News-Sentinel staff and its employees for a really fine product. I enjoy my cup of coffee and News-Sentinel every morning. Thank you, and God bless you for this forum.
