We would like to add our voices to the numerous concerns regarding the out-of-control fireworks this year.

We live in the area between Turner Road and Lockeford Street, and Ham Lane and California Street. We have lived in this area since the 1960s, but have never experienced the early and careless use of home fireworks that started well before July 4 and continued for at least a week after. Even with windows closed, drapes drawn and the TV on full blast to drown out the noise, we still had to endure days of nerve-shattering noises from early dusk to well after midnight.

We were prisoners in our home while trying to comfort frantic dogs.

We find it sad that a few people have such little regard for the many families with pets or seniors who would like to get a good night’s rest without intermittent explosions late into the night.

We would be happy to contribute to a solution if anyone can come up with an idea to resolve this problem before the Fourth of July comes around again.
