Waste Management’s Collection Calendar is much too small 8 comments

Who was the star employee over at Waste Management who redesigned the Collection Calendar they send out every year?

The “calendar,” the reason the thing exists, went from three-quarters of the page to less than one-third of the page. If you post that thing next to where your trash can is, you’d have to move your trash out of the way just to get close enough to read it.

All that stuff that appears on the bottom two-thirds of the page, you only read that once when you first get it and are holding the paper in your hand. The calendar part is looked at every week to make sure you put the right can out.

I can only guess the person who redid this mailer isn’t the person who puts the trash out every week.

As a rate-payer, I want the city of Lodi to ensure that all future contracts specify, “There shall be no unreadable memory aids.” They have to be big enough to read! Please.

Bobcat: Perhaps you should take some of your own advice, read your first line. Dude its the service is not free. daaaaa. Why a capital NOT. You started a new sentence without stopping the last one, if your intent was to start a new sentence after whiners, a period should have been inserted. And last but not least, a period rather than a coma at the end of your poorly conceived slog. I am truly surprised that you would complain when you get something for nothing. Now repeate after me, 2+2= 4. Aahhhh Good Boy, now sit.

Black, blue or sky blue pink, color shouldn`t matter, it`s free once a year and your still complaining. Perhaps next year WM will charge, or discontinue the freebee, along with a bigger piece of paper, will that make you whiners happy. Get Real, how often do you get something for nothing, just remember to tarp it.

Best way to figure out whether its recycle or yard and garden week (if you lose track) - look to see what your neighbors are putting out, Ms. Reichert!

This was probably designed by the same genius who decided BLACK postcards would be a great idea to use for the once-a-year FREE load of trash taken to the dump.
Customers have to write their account number, name and address on the card.
I always have to print a white label with the information and the clerk gives me a look like "Oh, darn, black was meant to discourage people from using these!"

The only reason I can think of why WM would do this is to save 1 piece of paper per household. I'm guessing Lodi has at least 12-15K WM customers. So figure 14K multipled by a deep discounted price (high volume customer) of $30 per case/1000 sheets (reg $41 at staples) = $420.... maybe $500.
Seems like a dumb idea to save $500 and upset so many customers.

Hello Linda: A suggestion, break out the magnifying glass, if you think that printing is small, trying reading the phone book, then you will appciate what you have.
