Yes, Lodi Police Lt. Chris Piombo, that was a tragedy 15 years ago (“Officer Rick Cromwell remembered 15 years later,” Dec. 12) — and for the senior citizen that gave up his license because of that accident.

Officer Rick Cromwell had made a U-turn, and was traveling without lights and siren. Was Rick partly to blame for this accident, or is it all on the back of the senior citizen who had the misfortune of being in the wrong place at the wrong time? For 15 years this person has been chastised as the sole reason for this accident.

I think it is time to put this to bed once and for all. This was a terrible accident and we all hope it does not happen again.

Cromwell had just as much to do with his own demize as that senior. I remember it as if it were yesterday. For a split second had Cromwell looked before making that fatal U turn, he would still be riding his bike on motor patrol and that senior might still have his drivers licence. [sad]

Should graduations return to the Grape Bowl?

Lodi Unified leaders are moving Lodi and Tokay high school graduations from the Grape Bowl to the Spanos Center at UOP in Stockton. They cite limited seating, costs and unpredictable weather at the Grape Bowl. But others say graduations at the Grape Bowl are an important Lodi tradition, and one reason many supported renovating the stadium. What do you think?
