Jerry McNerney is the right choice for education 3 comments

As a local educational leader, I am supporting Jerry McNerney to be re-elected to Congress. He is a leader in promoting educational opportunities for youngsters and adults and for creating powerful initiatives to support youths and families.

Jerry McNerney listens to educators. He is committed to bringing federal resources back to the region. He wants to make sure teachers have the support they need to get supplies and to continue to receive professional development. He is a strong advocate for STEM education — brought the Science Committee to the district for a STEM forum. He authored the National Safe Streets Gang Crime Prevention Act to combat gang violence. And he cares deeply about the value of education and the need for safety, and will fight for what's right in Congress.

He is a man who possesses knowledge and wisdom, and acts with integrity. Please join me and vote for Jerry McNerney.

Of course. That is democratic party religion. With Federal money comes Federal control, mandates and regulations.
Gill is for state rights where Californian's should have the right to decide what is best for Californians. The differences between these two candidates is stark.
Vote for McNerney if you prefer Washington DC to dictate our education. Vote Gill if you think Californians should have control over it's own educational destiny.

Great letter Mr Ovick. I agree there is more at stake with education than whether the teachers have elected to be represented. Class size, testing, learning support and community commitment are where Mr Nerney is especially supportive. As you said "He is a man who possesses knowledge and wisdom, and acts with integrity." I don't think his still "wet behind the ears" opponent is as equally up to the task. I mean Gill has hardly been in the district more than a couple of years and no public service experience. I agree we need Mr McNerney. BTW my daughter is a teacher in another district.

I am shocked that a local educational leader, whose industry is dominated by unions, would support a candidate whose funding is dominated by unions, who want a politician that will bring more money to it's union members... shocking
Actually in all seriousness, it would be shocking if I could find one union educator that that supports Mr. Gill... just one please.
