The Republicans lost the election due to stupidity. When the Republican Party began courting the Christian vote in the 1970s, they went from promoting a better republic for the American people to making laws to force the rest of the country to conform to the religious beliefs and Biblical interpretation of one segment of the Christian community.

It's sad to think of the millions of dollars that have gone to reversing Roe vs. Wade and fighting same-sex marriage that could have been used to promote jobs, build more rehab centers, care for our ever-increasing homeless population, getting the mentally ill off the streets, or other causes that actually help the American people. The truth is that abortion and homosexuality are not the cause of moral and social decay in America — hate, discrimination and intolerance are.

Americans had to choose between two evils in November and they choose higher taxes, poor economy and another step towards socialism over the loss of personal freedom and human rights. Yes, that choice will backfire, but when the choice is between bad and worse, there is always a downside.
