Letter: Beware of phone scam

We recently received a phone call stating it was from the IRS and that we should immediately call Hedda Gray at 415-251-8730. Since I also have a head of gray, I was skeptical and called the California Consumer Affairs department of the Justice Department of Kamala Harris. A very pleasant lady named Kimberly called the number and informed us that it was indeed a scam.

This is a great example of the hundreds of services that we (as the government) provide to ourselves, and we provide them even to the folks who don’t understand very much and don’t want to pay for them, even though they often afford themselves of benefits when they need them. It’s all just a part of the Golden Rule, which far too many people ignore. Do unto (and for) others.

I just had phone call from this at 4:15 in afternoon with phone number to call 202-506-9983 saying the Hedda Gray person with very threatening words. I am calling police to inform. I think that is best to do. Very scary for anyone who do not know this fake.

I work in the tax industry and every year we have reports of these types of scams. The IRS and the FTB rarely call taxpayers. Everything is pretty much done through the mail. Even if you owe a balance and do not pay they will send you multiple letters after letters. They don't call you before they freeze your bank account or take the money from your payroll, But they do send you many letters stating what they are going to do if your don't contact them and take care of it.. Do not fall for these phone scams.
