My new water meter was installed last year, and for some time now I have noticed that some heads on two of my sprinkler lines aren't popping up. I looked at my latest water bill, which indicated that a 3/4-inch meter was installed. This was confirmed by a Public Works employee.
Since the water lines coming into the house are 1 inch, and my system is predicated upon the gallons per minute delivered by a 1-inch line, it's no wonder that I'm having coverage problems.
To correct the situation, I had to disconnect certain lines and then connect them to others. This was a lot of work and far from an ideal solution, since each line has a different watering time. My question is: Why aren't existing homeowners being given the option of a 1-inch meter?
