In response to Associated Press article on May 10, 2013, "California grants secrecy to state health exchange": This is not the way we want our money spent — secretly. The government is to be transparent with our money. Our eyes need to see what is going on.
I was in a government purchasing field for over 15 years. We had to be transparent on the purchase of all products and services. Transparency and the public's right to know is the cornerstone of proper government procurement. We need to see that things are being done above-board. Secrecy does not allow for that. We do not do big government business with a wink and a nod. This health bill has enough problems without this type of potential thievery.
What if your city did not allow you to know what was going on? For instance, if you are selling goods or services to the government, it is your right to know what your competition has bid or proposed. Also, how was the final award decided? It is our money!
Call your representatives on this one. This is wrong and needs to be repealed. This tyranny needs to stop soon.
