Breast cancer awareness — not just for women
Hooray for Theresa Larson’s answer to Joe Guzzardi and all the
guys who complain about Pink October and breast cancer awareness.
If not for all of that “fuss,” as some of those men call it, I and
many a wife, mother, daughter, etc. would not be alive today.
So get checked early, do a self-exam and by all means wear pink.
It’s the new power color. And if some of those ignorant, macho guys
don’t like it, remind them that men can also get breast cancer. I
sincerely hope they never have a loved one die of breast cancer,
because then that awareness may be too little and too late.
The research that has been made possible through the fundraising
efforts of the various foundations has saved many women from what
used to be a death sentence to a chance of a cancer-free
future.

I want to congratulate you on coming out of your medical condition in a positive way. I want everyone who experiences cancer to survive with dignity and a good quality life. But Dolores, I think you missed the point of what others complain of… it’s that equal attention is given to all people who suffer medical conditions, cancer. Some medical conditions get better awareness, resources and treatment over others. So its not that the guys were complaining about “pink”, its that they think the cancer they get is treated with less importance and concern that what you suffered.
