Letter: Government cannot tell parents how to discipline their children

Norm Lee is right, he is overly educated (“Spanking is not ‘reasonable discipline,’” Jan. 25). Taking away parents’ rights to discipline their children and giving those rights to the government might be the way you see it, but it doesn’t make it right. Sometimes being overly educated stops you from seeing the forest for the trees.

I think that is the problem nowadays — parents’ rights are being taken away and the kids use that to their advantage. A common saying with kids is “touch me and I will have you arrested.”

Well, at my house, my wife or I will say what you can do or can not do. If that is not acceptable, then turn that doorknob on the front door in a counterclockwise direction.
