We need a change
What in the world is wrong with our government? We stick our nose in everybody's foreign business and don't tackle our own problems. We all know what that is — illegal immigration. It is driving our economy and they know it, but don't do anything about it.
Our big issue is jobs for citizens, and they (immigrants) are taking them away from citizens. The way our government is going, we will need to learn a new language.
Just remember when you vote, we need a change.
As for same-sex marriage, men and women were created to form partnerships. Our government condones same-sex marriage, so all I can say is vote smart and get these numbskulls out of office.

K Lee stated...You seem to think you know the truth about most every topic yet you proclaim to be about seeking the truth. Well, you cannot seek the truth, Darrell, when you think you already know everything
No K Lee...I stated that it was a waste of time to discuss jobs with you as your perception is fixed.
This new topic however is definitely worth talking about and thank you for bringing it up. I agree 100% that a person who perceives they know everything will likely not gravitate toward truth when seeking it.
That is why I think no matter how hard I try, it is impossible to know truth. Truth today is absolute....until tomorrow when a new variable changes what we perceived truth to be yesterday.
This is who I am. Your perception that I think I know everything is so far off that it verifies that you still have no clue what you are talking about when making comments about me..
K Lee posted at 1:40 pm on Mon, Jun 18, 2012.
Your babble turns into "No comment" again. No surprise there, Darrell. It's what you do best... run from the truth as others try to share it with you. I know it's hard for you to admit when others are right (and you wrong), or even consider the thought, but if you only live your life in your own little world then what does that do? You seem to think you know the truth about most every topic yet you proclaim to be about seeking the truth. Well, you cannot seek the truth, Darrell, when you think you already know everything. Oh, well... your choice, of course. Now, back to your favorite comment... "No comment". Let's see how long it lasts this time.
Darrell Baumbach posted at 8:39 am on Sun, Jun 17, 2012.
Maybe you just should have used your ol' standby... "No comment".
Thank you for reminding me K Lee... if the goal is to seek truth, and K Lee of Ms Bobin is involved... it really is more fruitful simply to state...
"No comment"... so for you K Lee.... No comment...

Darrell Baumbach posted at 4:14 pm on Thu, Jun 14, 2012.
Thank you for substantiating my observation K Lee... all words you posted that were from Mr Senecal said nothing about civil rights... everything you stated was your spin on what he stated... I am not saying what you stated is right or wrong... we know what you think. Unfortunately, your question to me was " what do I think he meant.... not you.
You insist on stating what he believes when in fact it is what you believe.
In other words, you are putting words in his mouth and spreading gossip and rumor as to what is in the mind of another human.
Had you originally stated what you believed and asked me if I agree, I would have easily been able to answer because I know my own heart.

The denial of one American's right to marry over another based on their race, gender, ethnicity, national origin, language, religion, sexual orientation, disability, age etc is indeed a violation of ones civil rights. Equal rights are for all American's... not just the ones you support, Darrell.

Now there she goes again, spreading rumor and gossip... Maybe you should stick to As the World Turns or some such show where your type of commentary would be expected. There is no way for you to determine if I disagree with that statement or not. ( except in your mind)
On this thread, you invented civil rights as a topic that was not in the letter. You now change the topic to something unrelated. Equal treatment ? how is that related to civil rights?... for example, Affirmative Action programs are designed to treat people differently in our country. The idea is that some groups who were discriminated against in past times need advantages and benefits because of past economic disadvantages.
If we followed your statement, and treated everyone equally, we would have to abolish these wonderful programs. I am surprised that you would wish hardship on disadvantaged children just because you think rich white kids should be treated the same as poor minority children. Shame on you.

K Lee interprets the following statement as somehow reflecting what Mr Senecal thinks or believes about a civil rights issue... lets take one sentence at at time....
First statement...”As for same-sex marriage, men and women were created to form partnerships”
my comment... This statement indicates to me that Mr Senecal is stating his belief that men and women were created to form a partnership, marriage or relationship for procreation reasons. That is all I see.
Second statement...he states...”our government condones same-sex marriage, so all I can say is vote smart and get these numbskulls out of office." …
my comment...I interpret this to mean... Mr Senecal, believes men and women are created to be in partnerships, and that some politicians that disagree with his perception are numbskulls. He thinks that these politicians who disagree with his belief should be voted out of office and politicians that agree with his perception should be voted in office.
I have no opinion or way of knowing what is in this man's mind or heart as it relates to civil rights. He did not discuss his thoughts or feelings about that subject matter. Anything I would state would be equivalent to gossip and rumor. Since I do not think it appropriate to spread gossip and rumor, I do not wish to read something into his letter that is not there.
Obviously, K Lee has no problem spreading gossip and seems to enjoy it.
K Lee posted at 2:24 pm on Tue, Jun 12, 2012.
Darrell: You have injected your own personal feelings into the conversation and implied what you think I was thinking. No need for that because I will tell you exactly what I think and believe. K Lee posted at 2:20 pm on Tue, Jun 12, 2012.
Ira Senecal's letter addresses two topics and Mr. Senecal has it wrong on both accounts. No one is even going to back him up on his comments on jobs and immigrants since he is so far from reality. And his request that we all vote out "numbskulls" that support the same equal rights for all Americans should be taken for what it is.... ignorant babbling.

"As for same-sex marriage, men and women were created to form partnerships. Our government condones same-sex marriage, so all I can say is vote smart and get these numbskulls out of office."
Clearly, Darrell, you are trying hard to avoid the actual words that were written here. I know you don't like to come right out and say what you mean with a clear yes or no answer, but really, this is ridiculous on your part. You are dancing around this issue so fast you should be dizzy by now.
Now, slowly ready these words by Mr. Senecal and respond to them. Do you really believe that Mr. Senecal supports equal rights for all Americans when he calls for the voting out of all "numbskulls" (his words)?

K Lee stated...Do you agree with this statement?
"What would make someone a bigot is if that person believes that some Americans should be denied their equal rights due to sexual orientation, religious affiliation, gender, ethnicity, or socioeconomic status."
answer.... I would reword your statement to be... I think a person might be considered to be a bigot if this person treats a groups of people ( IE... men, women, race ) with hatred and unreasonable intolerance. When a person generalizes and assumes everyone in a group is the same and fails to consider each person on an individual basis is also a trait of a bigot. For example, if anyone said all gay men or all white men are idiots, I would think that inappropriate and bigoted. I thought Ms Neely who links American conservatives to men who abuse woman under Sharia law was a bigoted statement.

Why aren't those jobs being filled by the citizens out of work here in California (the ones Mr. Senecal speaks of)? Farmers are struggling right now to find the manpower they need. Ms. Aquino stated …What would happen to this nations economy if 20 million people went away?
Interesting question… if the answer is it would hurt our economy, would then the perception be that having 20 million people here illegally is helpful to our economy. If so, would it not hold that we should encourage and promote illegal entry into United States as it is helpful to our economy. Then, why not have 50 million…then 100 million illegal residents… Our economy’s problems would be over by then. Right?
If the answer is that our economy would be helped bythe20 million leaving… what then? Should we deport all 20 million simply because it helps our economy? I
The point is, our country has immigration laws. Should we actually be asking ourselves if it is OK to break the law if it helps our economy? If it is ok for this law, why not all laws. We should either change the law if it is bad law or follow the law.

Happy to answer your question, but first, I need more information from you in order to give a good answer….
Questions: are you asking the above question with an understanding in your mind that every person in the United States who believes men and women were created to be partners based on procreation are by definition bigots? No exceptions. If there are exceptions, when? If there are no exceptions, why?

Personally, I do not believe that anyone needs to be voted out of office just because they support gay marriage. To the contrary, if someone is against gay marriage, and equal rights for all Americans, then I believe they should be voted out of office. That’s simply un-American. Now those are the numbskulls that should not be holding office in this country. Of course Ms Bobin, I am aware of that... My comment to K Lee was in reference to what Ira Senecal stated in the letter. It is he that talked of creation. Since I do not practice religion, I do not think in terms of creation as he does. It seems to be quite obvious what this man was saying and disingenuous of K Lee to ask why. He was taking about why woman and men were created in his opinion... that has nothing to do with your thought about the ability of science to bypass the perceived intent.

To answer... I was not expecting them to follow me. I simply made the offer because I did not have my identification as I should have. I was attempting to be cooperative. I had never been in a situation like this before so I really was not certain what I should say. It was a spur of the moment comment that I blurted out spontaneously without much thought.

YOU replied, "I did not call the police."
Thank you for again making my point. On these posts, it is very easy to misinterpret, misunderstand and misread. You are very correct that in this case, I misread what Mr Chang stated.
Just as I can make mistakes, so can everyone else. Since I make so many posts in which people respond, it is obvious that my posts will naturally have it's share of misunderstandings.
In your case ms bobin, you have had the benefit of my help and guidance in many situations where I took the time to explain what my intent was. It now is obvious that even with all the explanations and clarifications, you still make the same accusations over and over. That is why your posts are classified as distortion instead of a mistake as your mischaracterizations are intentional... just like the post office post you submitted.

I did not call the police Mr Chang.
YOU just "misinterpreted" Mr. Chang's words. He clearly stated, "that would make SOMEONE concerned...."
YOU replied, "I did not call the police."
Seems most of the misinterpretation is due to Mr. Baumbach's confusion and desire to make it seem like he actually knows what he is talking about.
And, FYI, Mr. Baumbach...this is 2012. Babies can and have been created without the benefit of a matched pair of parents for a VERY long time.

"Agriculture is really starting to hurt right now because of this" Goehring said. "If it continues at the same rate it did from last year to this year, we are in deep trouble."
"Right now, we are having to make decisions in our vineyards about which vineyards we leave untouched and don't have any labor inputs in at all," Goehring said. "The bottom line is, we are losing money now."
"We have to have an adequate supply of employees to pick the fruit -- if not, it gets overripe," said Joe Valente, a manager at Kautz Farms in Lodi.
"We have to have an adequate supply of employees to pick the fruit -- if not, it gets overripe," said Joe Valente, a manager at Kautz Farms in Lodi.
The San Joaquin County Farm Bureau said the number of seasonal workers is down about 20 to 30 percent this year.
So, Mr. Senecal, would you please explain your position as you stated that "Our big issue is jobs for citizens, and they (immigrants) are taking them away from citizens."? It looks to me, and to most everyone else in the valley, that there are about 20 to 30 percent more jobs available right now! Immigration is down, to the detriment of the farmers and all who enjoy the valley's bounty, so what's your beef? Where are the citizens to fill these jobs?

How do you figure, Mr. Senecal? You're letter is vague and simply an attack without any explanation of your position. Maybe you're living under a rock, but there has been a huge shortage of seasonal workers (immigrants) to help tend to the crops and bring in the harvest. Why aren't those jobs being filled by people out of work here in California? Farmers are struggling right now to find the manpower they need. So, tell us... what jobs are immigrants taking away?

I did not call the police Mr Chang. I was making a business call to India from my laptop using skype. Someone ( not sure who) called the police for reasons I do not know. The whole experience was very bizarre to say the least. I could not imagine why the police would respond to someone calling them saying they felt suspicious about someone using a laptop at a post office. They did respond and took it serious. I smile about it now but it was not funny then.

CONTINUED…
I was not expecting anything special… I was trying to demonstrate that I did live in the area and was not a terrorist.
Now Ms bobbin distorts the entire event and attempts to put me in a light that is totally false by stating the following…And this from the person who tried to tell an LPD Officer at the Woodbridge Post Office, after being reported as doing something very suspicious with his computer, "I am a BAUMBACH!" Read..."I am special because I am a BAUMBACH. You can't harass me!"
Of course…, LPD does not care about the BAUMBACH name … most Lodi Baumbachs are now dead. Most police officers have never heard of Baumbachs… My comment was an attempt to verify that I was a local… nothing more than that.
again...thank you very much for showing how right I am about you.

My last post was an example of misinterpretation. This post is an example of Ms Bobin’s ability and proclivity to “DISTORT” ,
I am appreciative and thankful that Ms Bobin so quickly and definitively proves my point for me.
I was at the Woodbridge post office some time back using my lap top. In the parking lot. Suddenly, a police car was parked sideways behind my car with flashing lights. I was surprised at this point as I could not see anything going on that would require police presence. The police officers come to my car. I roll down the window and ask what seems to be problem. They informme that someone called their station and reported that someone was using their laptop in the parking lot and they were suspicious that some nefarious was happening. I added 2+2 in my head and realized they were checking out some type of terrorism possibility…They asked me if I lived in this area . I said yes. I did not have my wallet at the time so I could not show ID… . I knew the Baumbach name was known in the area…I wanted to somehow show that I was a local…so I blurted out that “I was a Lodi Baumbach” I suggested we drive to my house so I could get proper identification.

Ms Bobin stated…Everyone, with the exception of your little group of sycophants, has caught on to your game of walking back your comments, Mr. Baumbach. There are no distortions, no misinterpretations.
I must be dreaming. Only Ms Bobin could possibly substantiate my points so quickly and accurately where no doubt remains. Thank you Ms. Bobin!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
In my post at 3:20 pm on Fri, Jun 8, 2012. I stated… Ms Bobin, you left off 29,000,000 other ”NAMES” from the entire city of Lodi and the rest of California that would be printed in a timely manner.
In response, you stated In Lodi alone, even if you calculate a minimum of 3 letters per day X 5 days per week = 15 letters per week X 52 weeks per year = 780 letters per year. 29,000,000 /780 = 37,180 years to print YOUR 29,000,000 letters. More nonsense that makes you look ridiculous.
Obviously, you “MISINTERPRETED” my post…now I have to explain like I do in so many posts to correct your frequent mistakes.
I was talking about how many people there are in California…not letters written. I was saying that all Californians could submit a letter to the Lodi paper and expect to have it printed. You did not understand. You thought I was talking about number of letters. Why? I have no clue. If you look at your original post, you name several people’s names…not number of letters. I just added many people to your list.
Again…thank you very much for showing how obvious it is that I am right in what I state.

Mr. Barrow wrote, in response to Mr. Werner: "From the letters I have read in the LNS it does not appear that the LNS has set the bar very high for what it will print. These letters are to the editor that does not mean that the editor needs to print them all."
The only criteria for a letter to get printed immediately in the LNS, as witnessed by the nonsense that consistently appears, is that the letter have right-wing opinions.
Recent letters, such as Mr. Senecal's, that have no point, i.e., no main thesis, just a bunch of bigoted talking points, or the letter that refered to Democrats as "Flemocrats" (why is Mr. Baumbach NOT screaming about the lack of decency and respect? Answer - because as long as he agrees, no matter how ill-educated or bigoted the writer is there ARE NO boundaries).
As far as my comments go, I at least speak my mind - just as Mr. Baxter feels free to fling the insults while chiding others for doing so. Those such as Mr. Baumbach continually dance around and complain and whine that his "comments were misinterpreted" when they obviously were not - Mr. Baumbach's continual efforts to say that he didn't say what he said.
As they say, the Constitution guarantees free speech, but it does not guarantee anyone's right to be heard.
Joanne Bobin posted at 10:06 am on Fri, Jun 8, 2012.
There certainly is editorial discretion used in the printing of LTE's. The 3 times I have submitted letters over the past 20 years, it took phone calls and letters verifying my identity - I would sooner have gotten a job with the FBI than have had a LTE printed in the LNS.
My last letter in response to a Wade Heath column was somehow "lost," even though it was submitted on the LNS online system. I submitted it twice over a period of 3 weeks and it still was not printed.
First submission was April 5, second submission was April 19th.
I finally made an inquiry with Richard Hanner on April 25th. No reply. In a later correspondence on May 5th, he stated, "I am checking on the letter right now and will report back ASAP." Never replied directly to this inquiry.
In my reply, I attached a copy of my letter. It was finally printed on May 8th.
I suppose if my name was Baumbach, Kinderman, Senecal, Osgood or any one of the other individuals who write the usual right-wing clap trap, my letter would not have been "lost" and would have been printed in a timely manner so that the subject was still relevant.
Mr. Baxter wrote: "For the life of me, I don't know why she doesn't go to work for the LNS and take over the Opinion section. Then she could really stonewall any LTE she didn't meet her approval."
The Lodi News Sentinel obviously already has a person who performs the duty described above by Mr. Baxter.

From the letters I have read in the LNS it does not appear that the LNS has set the bar very high for what it will print. Mr Werner, Mr Senecal letter expresses his opinion that immigrants are to blame for the countries problems not only is this ridiculous but it lays blame on the shoulders of a group of particular individuals. Why does he not put some blame on the people who hire them or all of us who benefit from their labor? He then attacks the LGBT community but the overall tone of his letter is to blame liberals in government, who he refers to as numbskulls. Where is the respect for those groups in his opinion. Mr. Senecal's opinion is mean spirited and devoid of any facts to support it. I think my opinion of his letter is appropriate and I stand by it.

Why someone would say the LNS has reached a new low or suggest the writer get some much needed rest is being rather disrespectful of someone else's opinion. It's this type of bullying, mockery and divisiveness that is wrong with our society. It's rather ironic that in this blog Ira's opinions are relegated to "the ramblings of a person who most likely doesn't even know who or where he is from day to day".
