History repeats itself but none believe it.

In 1937 the stock market dropped and in 2012 the stock market dropped. President Roosevelt was re-elected with big spending prior to his re-election, and the creation of big government.

President Obama was re-elected with big spending prior to his re-election, and the creation of big government. President Roosevelt said, "Tax the rich and cut spending."

President Obama said, "Tax the rich and cut spending." President Roosevelt said, "Blame the rich Wall Street banks." President Obama said, "Blame the rich Wall Street banks." President Roosevelt's administration started Social Security, not private bonded plans. President Obama's administration proposed medical care, not private bonded plans.

There has been more money printed now then in the history of the USA; more spent, more government.

The cover of "Newsweek," Feb. 6, 2009 said we were socialist now — more government and perhaps a future socialist dictatorship.

    Great letter Oskar...
Liberal government control and policies should not be repeated... in fact,
business in this country has succeeded in spite of government, not because of it.Hard to believe some actually think government is the solution when in reality, it's the problem.

Interesting read on just how "great" FDR was...."In his first 100 days, he swung
hard at the profit order.Instead of clearing away the prosperity barriers erected
by his predecessor, he built new ones of his own. He struck in every known way
at the integrity of the U.S. dollar through quantitative increases and qualitative
deterioration. He seized the people’s gold holdings and subsequently devalued the dollar by 40%" See the whole report at http://www.mackinac.org/archives/1998/sp1998-01.pdf

Let us hope that history repeats itself. Roosevelt and his successors went on to build the greatest economy and the greatest middle class the world has ever seen.

Should graduations return to the Grape Bowl?

Lodi Unified leaders are moving Lodi and Tokay high school graduations from the Grape Bowl to the Spanos Center at UOP in Stockton. They cite limited seating, costs and unpredictable weather at the Grape Bowl. But others say graduations at the Grape Bowl are an important Lodi tradition, and one reason many supported renovating the stadium. What do you think?
