Letter: Visitors’ side of the renovated Grape Bowl was poorly designed

On Aug. 31, we attended a football game at the Grape Bowl between the Lodi Colts and the Lodi Junior Flames. We were there to support the Lodi Junior Flames, who were the visitors.

In order to gain access to the visitors’ bleachers, we had to go to the main gate, pay an entry fee, get a hand stamp and then proceed to the north gate and up the ramp. If the north gate had not been open, we would have had to go up the new wheelchair ramp to the top of the home team bleachers, and then down to the ground level and across the field to the visitors’ side of the field.

The new entryway, ticket windows, restroom and snack bar area are very nice. However, the restrooms and the snack bar area are really only accessible to the home team fans.

The money spent building the long ramp to the upper bleachers on the south side of the stadium could have been spent connecting the new entryway to the existing walk area at the bottom of the bleachers on both sides of the stadium, and the wheelchair seating could be at the bottom of the bleachers instead of the top. Restrooms, snack bars, and seating would then be easily accessible to all.
