We need a preventative median near the Starbucks on Ham Lane

Just a quick thought before anyone gets hurt: Can we please install some sort of median to prevent any of the "can't live without my coffee but won't get out of my car" Starbucks patrons that just have to turn into the drive-thru line from southbound Ham Lane?

The main problem is that the left-hand lane in which the coffee fiends sit and block for minutes at a time is the only lane that continues south at the Elm Street intersection. This leads others who are not stuck on that Seattle product to attempt to circumvent the stopped vehicles in the left lane — and in some cases cause traffic problems.

It is only a matter of time before someone is badly injured. Please correct this problem before it gets any more out of hand.

Thank you for your time.

Ed - Those people are way scarier than coffee fiends. I can't even tell you how many times I see people in my rearview mirror looking down instead of at the road.

    "Yeah, a LTE really"

    Tom, shame on you.

Underestimating the power of writing a letter to the paper.

Some believe that sharing one's opinion is most important. Job #1.

Solving problems or actually making a difference is usually somewhere farther down on the list.

Here, one can advocate for their chosen cause and never leave the comfort of the couch. Sweet.

    Just maybe...

The mayor will stumble through here, read our "desperate pleas" and take immediate action??

    It could happen... yeah!!

Joanne: Relax, have a glass of your favorite beverage, evidently it isn`t coffee. As long as kids of all ages do not drive using electronic devices, no problem.[smile]

Since this Starbucks location has been around for several years already and no major accidents have occurred on Ham Lane due to people turning left across the northbound lanes, it seems to be a non-problem. I'm not a patron of ANY of the Starbucks in Lodi or elsewhere, but I would think the larger problem exists at the Starbucks at the corner of Kettleman and Lower Sac. That parking area is extremely small and congested and patrons drive like idiots there.

I'm a little confused though; is the writer saying that people turn left directly into the drive-thru, which would be against the traffic flow?

It's also ironic that the writer is mocking the coffee drinkers when it is obvious that, even without coffee, he is overly impatient about the traffic hold-up caused by those waiting to make the left-hand turn.

If it will cost money, forget it.[sad]

Yeah, a LTE really. What's so wrong with voicing one's opinion about what might very well be a potential problem in the very city where the News-Sentinel is published? Who knows, maybe someone on the "city staff, city works, city manager, [or] whatever in Lodi" might actually read the paper and take action as a result.

I suppose some people simply must complain before they get their cup of coffee at Starbucks or maybe at the HoC (House of Coffees).

Did you talk to the city staff, city works, city manager, whatever in Lodi before witing a letter to te editor? Seems kie that wiould be more effective. If all else fails go to the city council. An LTE really?
