General Services Director Gabe Karam feels spending money will get San Joaquin County out of their money problems. Maybe the economy isn’t as rosy as it looks.
The county dipped $72 million out of its improvement kitty, pulling funds for projects to prevent deeper cuts in ongoing operations while knowing that this is only a down-payment on the final cost. Does this make sense at all? This doesn’t make sense to me. You are taking money and spending it on projects that have nothing to do with ongoing operations.
It seems to me taxpayer money is burning a hole in someone else’s pocket. Stop looking for new projects to build and concentrate on the business of existing problems within the county.
