Washington should work for the American people

At one time, nations all over the world wanted American-made products. Why? Because they were the best products you could buy. Can we say that now?

Over 9 percent unemployment and Washington can’t figure out why. Is it because Washington works for themselves and not for the American people?

Is it because companies that are being subsidized find it so profitable to move overseas, then bring that product back on free trade agreement and just sit back and watch the money roll in?

I have a hard time finding American-made products. It won’t be long before “Made in China” will not have to be displayed on their products.

Hire illegals instead of legalized citizens. They can do that. I am talking about people here in this country illegally from hundreds of nations; not just one nation. It certainly won’t bring down unemployment. Is there a law against the hiring? Is there a penalty for hiring? Who is in charge of enforcement? People here illegally should not have benefits that legal citizens do not have.

We certainly can’t afford for government to solve unemployment by doing all the hiring. That will only last so long or until the money runs out. Subsidies need to be eliminated. Helium from World War II, the last I heard, is still receiving millions a year in subsidies along with thousands of other businesses.

Bank your worn-out land, not suitable for farming and get a check from the government. Government cannot be paying out millions of dollars for doing nothing and then have no say on how it’s used.

Government cannot be in the employment business for the nation and be in business for very long. We cannot buy other countries’ friendship with American dollars.

Actually, I think they both attend the same monthly JBS meetings and repeat the same nonsense they get in their monthly JBS newsletter.

Garbage that anyone of principle wouldn't be caught dead regurgitating.

Should graduations return to the Grape Bowl?

Lodi Unified leaders are moving Lodi and Tokay high school graduations from the Grape Bowl to the Spanos Center at UOP in Stockton. They cite limited seating, costs and unpredictable weather at the Grape Bowl. But others say graduations at the Grape Bowl are an important Lodi tradition, and one reason many supported renovating the stadium. What do you think?
