Get to the root of the problem — the family unit
If I have not offended enough of you with my previous rants, let me try to remedy that today.
Gun control: Like most issues, our geniuses in Washington are focusing on their re-election rather than trying to solve a serious problem. "Assault weapons" and "mental health" are too easy to drum up emotions and false solutions. Let's dig deeper. How about the background of the "shooters?"
To further agitate our readers, how about single-mother households and deadbeat dads? Look at what has happened to families; too many children lack a father figure. How does this impact a young boy's development?
I postulate that our efforts should focus on bringing back the family ethic rather than trampling on constitutional rights. Oops, does that let the cat out of the bag?
What is the real elephant in the room — mental health? Yes, but how did that happen? If you decide to be a father, be a man first. We should demand that!

Fair is fair ms collateral damage...they print your garbage too. The difference is that Mr Osgood's is recyclable and reusable.

I agree Jerome, It might be unwise, but dude LOOK at our pictures. You and I think raising children is wonderful. Not everyone thinks like we do. As a matter of fact there exist in America a large segment of the MALE population that REFUSES to wear condoms or take care of the children born from their choice.
Why should a child be born to them who will refuse to take care of the child.
Personally I am tired of seeing woman saddled with the choices of irresponsible men. If we truly live in a free country Men should be ALLOWED this choice.

Why are we seeing almost naked women on this page?
You are right, Mr. Barrow. It is usually best to avoid commenting on the Osgood garbage altogether. Apparently, it doesn't work well though because he keeps sending it in and the LNS keeps printing his now weekly letters.

In 1984 Oceania is depicted as a nation of perpetual war, pervasive government, public mind control and the voiding of civil rights.
Could that description not fit America today? [sleeping]

Blame govt social safety nets. The fact is that before the nanny state got it's hooks into the culture men depended upon their children for security in their gloden years. That's right; the "progrssives" are destroying the family. And as we watch the family crumble we become increasingly insane. How do the "progressives" respond to the madness? medication man! Booze, Prozac, whatever? Hey! take away the guns; anything but traditional values. This much is certain: It will get worse before it ever gets better -- Believe it.

I think it's funny that after reading all these letters, about the breakdown of ethics in this country, but before a person can comment on them you have to scroll past Friday's Hot Clicks in the You May Like section of the LNS online and no Jerry you are not offensive you would have to be taken seriously to be offensive.

While I have no problem with birth control for men from abstinence to condoms to vasectomies, for any man to choose a vasectomy before age 25 would be unwise. Prior to turning age 26 most people have no idea what they want insofar as having children is concerned. To take such a drastic step that "may" be reversible would be to deny themselves one of life's most wonderful experiences – raising a child. Until young men are absolutely sure that they don't want children, I'd suggest less extreme forms of contraception.

I agree, but when taken over by natures passion, cool heads do not prevail. I know because it happened to me. Luckily for my daughter she had parents and grand parents who WANTED her...........
Being born into a family that does not want the child is a horrible night mare.
And the nightmare often lasts the 'unwanted' child's entire lifetime. Babies know when they are NOT loved and wanted.
A wanted child is loved and cared for, an unwanted child is a tragedy.
We could stop 80% of unwanted pregnancies by offering every American man between 18 - 35 a free vasectomy and $2000 dollars. I think that would Help eliminate unwanted, unloved children.
Its not the total answer but its a big step in the right direction.

"We should demand that!"
Wonder if Mr. Osgood has ever read "1984." According to him we live in the same dystopian society as the Oceanians and Big Brother needs to force men to "be a man."
