Obama’s policies are improving America

I'm 88 years old, active in my church, and a woman. I'm also an enthusiastic supporter of President Obama, whom I believe will go down in history as a wise and pragmatic decision-maker in this volatile interdependent world. Even Henry Kissenger and Colin Powell, former Republican Secretaries of State, have agreed with his foreign policy of diplomacy and working in collaboration with allies.

I believe there will be no more WWII military-type victories. The killing of Osama bin Laden using the SEALs was pure police action — detective and SWAT team-type action — and was a brave decision by a well-informed president.

I believe the stimulus and the bailouts of the auto industry and banks saved us from disaster. Unemployment had a record drop in September, the housing market is improving, and 5 million new private-sector jobs have been created. This has been accomplished in spite of a Republican Party held hostage by a core group who publicly vowed to make Obama a one-term president. They have shamelessly stalled his jobs bill as well as the veterans' employment support bill.

Obama has President Clinton's support and experience for lowering the debt. His fair and just taxation plan is supported by a number of very wealthy CEOs who would be mainly affected by a raise in taxes. His Pentagon-supported reduction in exorbitant military spending will help a lot!

"Obamacare" has made health insurance more people-oriented and less profit-oriented. I hope it will evolve into a single-payer updated Medicare for all. States can opt out of "Obamacare" by approving a state plan that meets required standards, and there is a movement in California to do so.

Last but not least, Obama's education improvement plans are right on, as are his stands on woman's issues.

Romney is undecided on many of the issues and became wealthy "working the system."
